Hearing from our 2XI captains...

The 2s had an exciting match last weekend against KES Bath, coming away with a 2-0 win! We asked Captains Immy Yeo and Izzy Vickery to answer a couple of questions reflecting on the season so far…

1. How has the season gone so far?

The season has started strongly, with the team showing great communication and a strong attacking press in every match—especially in our performance against Dean Close. It’s been a really fun season so far, with the team bonding well and creating a positive, supportive environment both in training and on the pitch. Although we haven’t won many matches yet, we’ve proven to be a competitive side with plenty of potential to keep improving as the season progresses.

2. How have you enjoyed the season so far?

We have really enjoyed spending time with a new group of people and developing our teamwork skills throughout the season. Training and matches have been great fun, helping the 2XI grow closer as a team and making the season even more enjoyable overall.

3. What are you excited for in the rest of the season?

We’re really looking forward to our match against Redmaids later this season, as it’s always a tough game that pushes us to play at our best. We’re also excited to have the opportunity to show the team’s ability as the season progresses further; hopefully win a few more matches; and continue growing closer as a team while improving our overall gameplay.

Hearing from our 2nd Team players...

The 2s have had quite a strong start to the season with wins against KES, Llandaff and Prior Park with a narrow lost to Stonar’s 1XV 17-12. Coming off a narrow loss to QEH here is what Ethan Morphey and Barney Thomas had to say about their season.

1. What has been your biggest highlight when playing 2nd team rugby?

The biggest highlight for me would be winning matches that we start off by losing but show direct improvement after being down points then coming back to win the match in the end.

2. What are the most important lessons you have learned whilst playing rugby for BGS?

I think the most important lessons are working as a team, to keep trying and not give up, and committing to training hard because it always pays off.

3. What are you most looking forward to for the season ahead?

I’m looking forward to the improvements that the team will make and myself will make, and hopefully to win more games.
