ANGUS&HEREFORD BULL ANDFEMALESALE

Do it with Passion or not at all

It is with great excitement that we welcome you to our 12th Annual High Cotton Bull and Female sale! We want to welcome you to scenic Lookout Mountain Monday, October 27th. As we sit here writing this invitation letter one month prior to sale day, we often reflect on the past year, our wonderful customers, both past and present, and notice truly how fast time does go by. This summer seems to be the “Tale of two Summers”. We were extremely blessed with moisture all summer long until about midAugust, and have struggled since with getting any moisture.

What a great time it is to be in the cattle business. What we are seeing in this feeder-calf market is truly unprecedented with extreme optimism for a strong cattle market for years to come. As you flip through the book, you will notice several half, three-quarter, and full-sibs that will sell, offering a great opportunity to have a very consistent set of offspring. We are extremely proud of this group of bulls, and we feel like this is our deepest and best set yet between both breeds. You will notice many calves are sired by industry leading bulls within each respective breed; however, we feel there is extreme value in the bulls sired by our walking herd-sires. Our focus here is simple, real world cattle that go out, work and add value to your program. Our goal is to create a consistent product designed to handle the harsh environments we can encounter in the Southeastern US. With that being said, we don’t chase extremes, we choose to focus on keeping maternal value in our herd with a balanced set of EPDs. We are extremely hard on selecting which bulls will make the sale and have always leaned hard on quality not quantity. The bulls offered are slick haired and stout ready to go to work in the hot, humid Southeastern US. There is not a bull in the sale that we wouldn’t recommend to a customer because his mother isn’t a good cow. We cut some very good calves every year because we don’t like their mother as much for some reason. She may be a little hairy, have just an “ok” teat and udder shape, and maybe she’s just not “our type”. We feel very confident in these bulls ability to go out and work for you. Our bull management is not geared toward the heaviest weaning weight, or yearling weight; our bull management is done with the producer in mind. They are developed in large pastures in groups of 25-35 head on a high roughage diet to hold up under breeding conditions and not melt. Bulls with any feet problems, attitude problems, or any other problems that are detrimental to the producer are culled. We don’t believe in trimming feet and disguising feet problems, matter-of-fact, our saying is that we trim feet from ear to ear hanging upside down. Now we do understand problems can arise, or develop and this is the reason we stand behind our bulls 100%. If you have a problem arise give us a call and we will work through it. While we don’t have as many commercial pairs to offer as we have in the past, we still wanted to keep that division, so we made up with some registered angus cows, many of which will have fall babies on their sides. For the first time, we are offering 12 Black Baldie yearling heifers that are ready to turn out with a bull just as soon as you get home. We feel as though you will be very proud of that set once you see them. We wanted to keep that set to use in our recipient program, but we always want to offer our very best and show you the potential of these bulls. You won’t buy from a program anywhere else that appreciates is as much as we do here at TRM.

We are very much a family operation, and we could not do it without all the help “Da” Roland, “Nonnie” Janet, “Poppy” Randy, “Mimi” Kelly. Harper and John Owen keep us all on our toes, from the late afternoons in the show barn, to letting them drive us around in the gator, we wouldn’t trade anything in the world for being able to live out this dream everyday with family close. Whatever your are hobbies are do it with the whole family for “TIME FLIES.”

We couldn’t do what we need to do without all of the guys help on the farm. They are truly the ones that keep it going doing the nitty gritty behind the scenes work. “Da” Roland, has been here over nine years now and is an unreal asset to TRM. He thought he was coming to slow down and chase grandkids. He has chased grandkids more often but we are still trying to figure out how to slow him down. We can’t thank him enough. Rickey Carroll, Randy’ s brother-in-law, is our tractor and equipment operating machine. He has been a big help to us, and we can let him focus on planting, bushogging, or cutting hay so we can focus on the cows. John Eberhart has been here every day, over three years now and knows how to do anything, from cows, to fencing, to equipment operation, he is truly irreplaceable. Chuck Wright has been here over four years now and oversees daily care of the bulls at our bull stud and helps with all cow working at the farm. He has been a tremendous asset to the Lookout Mountain Genetics and Tennessee River Music families. Our newest team member is Maurice Lizotte, who started in August and hit the ground running in all aspects of working on a cattle operation and getting thrown in the “Lion’s Den” of bull picturing about 3 weeks after starting. We are very thankful and fortunate of the team we have here at TRM and would put them up against anybody!

We look forward to seeing each one of you on Monday, October 27th. If you have any questions on the bulls, please contact any one of us anytime. Bulls will be videoed prior to the sale and available online for viewing. Bulls are available to look at any time before the sale as well if you’re unable to attend sale day. We know how busy life can be, and we truly value and appreciate your interest of our program. Let’s have a sale!

Dear Friends and Fellow Breeders,

Welcome to the 12th Annual High Cotton Bull and Female Sale at Tennessee River Music, Inc. This fall sale features the best of both breeds in the outstanding set of bulls being offered, along with a select group of registered Hereford spring bred heifers, registered Angus fall calving cows, commercial fall calving two-year-old females, and a dozen fall open commercial heifers ready to breed.

I would first like to thank Randy, Kelly, John, Randa, Roland, John, Chuck, and the rest of the TRM crew for allowing me to assist them in the marketing of this exceptional set of bulls and commercial females, that in my opinion, is their best to date. John and Randa have embraced their role as parents to Harper and John Owen, as well as their management role here at TRM. With the help of their family and crew, they have assembled a tremendous offering; the presentation of the cattle is second to none.

This offering is the culmination of years of careful breeding decisions and the constant pursuit of a better product for their customers. These bulls represent elite Angus and Hereford genetics that combine performance with excellent phenotype to become competitors at any level in our industry. These bulls have been developed the right way, with emphasis on maintaining soundness and maximizing fertility and longevity instead of being fed for maximized gain. I think you will be pleased when you analyze the feet and structure in this offering. The select group of females offered provide TRM an opportunity to share their registered and commercial genetics in the fall season of the year to better fit the needs of some of their customers.

For those of you who have not attended a TRM sale, you are in for a real treat. This is a family operation, and the hospitality extended by the Owen and Starnes families is like no other. They work very hard on the presentation of the cattle, and you are sure to appreciate their efforts once you lay eyes on this exceptional offering.

Please evaluate the needs of your operation, and feel free to preview the cattle prior to sale day. Then, join us on Monday, October 27, 2025, for this great event. Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions about either breed or if I can help you in any way.
