Despite Canada’s size, weather patterns are mostly the same across the country, with defined seasons similar to those in Europe. Coastal regions are usually more temperate than prairie provinces and mountain ranges attract higher rainfall and snow in some areas than others. It’s cold everywhere in winter and warm in most locations in summer. The summer months offer sunny days and pleasant temperatures. Springtime reveals forests and wildflowers and the re-emergence of Canadian wildlife from winter hibernation. September is the peak of the salmon run, attracting large numbers of bears. It also marks the start of autumn, with spectacular fall foliage lasting into October.

The information found on the Vamoos App was invaluable. It was detailed, readable and very accurate. The staff who dealt with our requests, daft questions etc were hugely helpful and reassuring.”

Days 7 – 8: Las Vegas (173 km / 108 miles)
Today you’ll head north to Las Vegas. Perhaps try your luck in one of the casinos, watch one of the spectacular shows or simply wander down the ‘Strip’ and take it all in. The best time of day to do this would be night time as you can witness Vegas with all its glittering lights and enjoy the famous fountain show at the Bellagio Hotel.
Day 9: Calico (237 km / 148 miles)
Your journey today takes you south west along the northern borders of the Mojave National Preserve, home to glorious sand dunes, canyons, mountains and carpets of wildflowers.

Today you’ll start the journey south along the famed Pacific Coast Highway, we suggest a stop in the city of Santa Cruz. Day 20: Morro Bay (229 km / 143 miles)
Travel along Monterey Bay and on the famous 17 Mile Drive before cruising down one of the world’s most scenic routes – California Highway 1.
