International Women’s Day (8 March) is some way away; but perhaps this distance from the only day of the year in which women’s role in society is actively celebrated is what inspired us to compile an all-female issue. Inside, you’ll find interviews and features on Sharon Eyal, Eszter Salamon, Ingrid Lorentzen, Gabriela Carrizo and Gloria Dorliguzzo, multi-faceted artists whose creations, artistic directorships and multidisciplinary visions have shaped a distinctive contemporary scene.
There’s also a significant milestone that inspired this special issue: the one hundredth anniversary of the Martha Graham Dance Company, the first American dance company.
In addition to these topics, the issue includes reviews of summer debuts in Italy and abroad, as well as many unmissable events to mark in your diary for the autumn.
