A Trip to WATCH COUNTRY
Exploring the villages within the famed Vallée de Joux, Switzerland is time well spent.
While driving around the mountains and valleys outside Geneva, it’s hard to believe that many of the world’s most famous and fabulous watches are made there. The biggest names in the industry—Rolex, Hublot, Breitling—are located in the little villages nestled in these verdant, rural Swiss valleys in and around Geneva. It is in these villages that renowned watchmakers work their magic, all the while viewing grazing cows and church steeples outside their windows. The first watchmakers, legend holds, were farmers who used the many months of snowy winter to hone their watchmaking skills, and today the industry flourishes in this same quiet, bucolic setting.
The village of Le Solliat is home to arguably the most famous watchmaker of today: Philippe Dufour, as well as of yesteryear: Louis François Reymond, the watchmaker to King Louis XVI of France.
Mr. Dufour’s atelier, in a former schoolhouse where his daughters used to attend classes, and which he shares today with a cheesemaker, is right next door to the farmhouse where Mr. Reymond made the King’s timepiece. Driving around this village and others, it’s easy to find the farmhouses where watchmakers are at work, Mr. Dufour says— just look for homes with an extra-large expanse of windows, since excessive natural light is a necessity for executing the intricacies of this profession.
Mr. Dufour grew up barely a stone’s throw from where he works today, in the neighboring village of Le Sentier, where he attended the École Technique, which has trained many of the current and future watchmakers. When students graduate, they have merely to head down the street to find work at Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin. Or they can go a few kilometers farther, to the village

25 YEARS OF ICONIC DESIGN
Founded in 2000, Marco Bicego is commemorating this milestone anniversary with his “25 Best” Collection.

“P
owered by Creative Director Marco Bicego’s artistic sensibility, his namesake brand’s 18-karat gold collections gleam with ancient goldsmithing techniques and the savoir-faire of 21st-century master jewelers. The execution of Bicego’s vision creates the brand’s instantly recognizable style, substance, and spirit, all of which are sensually sleek, elegant, highly flattering, versatile, and therefore irresistible.
Marco Bicego’s jewelry brand began in 2000 in Trissino, Italy, in the province of Vicenza, where the goldsmith’s guild was founded in 1339. To mark Marco Bicego’s 25th anniversary, the brand is presenting a landmark collection entitled 25 Best. Like many a great jewelry designer, Bicego is on an impassioned mission. “Gold, for me, is more than just a metal,” he said. “It holds the power of nature and the personal stories behind each piece. Every creation of mine reflects…the deep connection I have to this craft.”
Far more than a curated survey of refined gold jewelry that sparkles with diamonds and colored gemstones, Bicego’s 25 Best exemplifies how his refined designs have come to adorn customers in more than 50 countries across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Featuring pieces from the Marrakech, Siviglia, Paradise, Jaipur Color, Jaipur Link, Africa, Lunaria, Masai, and Alta collections, 25 Best also communicates how in a quarter of a century, the low-key luxury and artisanal finesse of Marco Bicego’s designs has secured the brand’s place in jewelry history.
For example, the Marrakech collection, which premiered in the brand’s inaugural year of 2000, is comprised of sinuously sculpted golden “ribbons” that are formed using the brand-exclusive coil technique in which thin gold strands are wrapped around an inner core. Poetically embodying the wind-sculpted and ever-shifting forms of North Africa’s sand dunes, Marrakech jewels gleam with the golden warmth of desert sunlight made solid. Majestic in its minimalism, the Marrakech collection is classic and therefore ageless, as stylistically relevant today as when it premiered at the turn of the 21 st century. The Siviglia collection draws its spiritual spark from the Andalusian culture of Seville, Spain. In this incomparable city, ancient cobblestoned streets are alive with the presence of the past, and every late February through April, thousands of orange trees produce their fragrant azahar (orange blossoms), creating a perfumed paradise in the heart of the city. While the 18-karat yellow gold chains in the Siviglia range are interspersed with small hand-engraved baroque-shaped golden ovals that are inspired by Seville’s cobblestones, some Siviglia necklaces are also embellished with pavé diamonds, milky aquamarine or turquoise. Simple yet
sophisticated, the elegantly imperfect elements in the Siviglia range are enhanced by the burnished glow of hand- engraved yellow gold, which in turn illuminates the wearer.
In a more colorful vein, Bicego’s Jaipur Color range of 2008 delights more than those who wear these jewels, for these designs look like bejeweled rainbows, delighting the eyes of all with their festivity. In a notable example, the vibrant gleam of the Jaipur Color cuff bracelet’s multi-colored gemstones, set inside 18K yellow gold bezels, is emphasized by the cuff’s finely textured Florentine hand-engraving. Dazzling with diamonds and colored gemstones set in dramatic silhouettes drawn from nine of his collections, the Alta range embodies Marco Bicego’s most lavish designs. These very “gemmy” jewels include the Marrakech necklace of hand-twisted 18-karat yellow gold coils. These are interwoven with a pavé diamond crossover “ribbon” that contains rows of brilliant-cut diamonds set in 18-karat white gold that total 5.62 carats. As Mr. Bicego noted, “Every piece takes hours to create, with more than 10 artisans involved in its meticulous crafting.”
Having trained in his father’s goldsmith business before launching his brand in 2000, Marco Bicego spent his early life observing, and then learning step by step, how jewelry collections are designed, hand-fabricated and finished to the sublime standard that Italian goldsmiths defined during the Renaissance. The innate elegance of organic life forms, natural landscapes and textures, respect for women and the infinite artistic possibilities embodied by gold are his muses. Bicego’s elemental orientation, combined with his sculptural talents, inspires some of Bicego’s proprietary techniques, such as his hand-twisted coils that are so fluidly curved that they look more like silken cords than solid gold. It is innovations like this that imbue Bicego’s jewels with a visual and tactile beauty that have earned him a worldwide following, including such creative artists and style icons as Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Kate Winslet. These three are just a few eminent women who wear Marco Bicego jewels on the red carpet, and in their daily lives. As of autumn 2025, Marco Bicego operates 14 flagship boutiques in such locations as Venice, Milan, Verona, Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and Budapest.
Mr. Bicego often refers to his company as an extension of his family, due to its origins in his father’s business, but also because of the values it reflects. “Our company is more than a jewelry brand,” he said. “It’s a place where values are passed down, just like artisanal techniques. Today, my children are actively involved. It’s a generational shift that comes naturally, grounded in mutual passion and vision.” Marco’s family members play pivotal roles in product development and brand communication, blending their new ideas with the firm’s artistic and technical DNA. Embodying the next chapter of the great Made in Italy jewelry story that is Marco Bicego, one looks forward to the next 25 years of designs from this heritage brand.

Layering a bunch of dainty chains is still a great look, but don't be afraid to kick it up a notch. Chunky chains and chokers also ruled the runways.
STYLING TIP
Have fun with bold pieces, Karen Giberson says. The art of mixing big necklaces is to choose those that look good together and stagger the lengths. For a striking collar effect, you can nest a couple of short, chunky necklaces on top of each other, close to the neck.
The-biggerthe-better earrings are still a wardrobe staple. Think giant hoops, down-to-there fringe and drop earrings. “Look for colorful versions,” Giberson says. “It's a great high-drama look that can freshen outfits without spending a lot of money.”
MAKE A STATEMENT
Rev up your game with these exciting new jewelry trends.
Often all you need is the right piece of jewelry to punch up your look. But like a clothes closet, a jewelry box needs a refresh every so often. After taking in the recent fashion shows, we're happy to report that many favorite jewelry styles continue to be popular: statement necklaces and earrings are still strong; so are arm parties of bangle bracelets. And layering will never die. What's new is that “everything is getting bigger, bolder and more colorful,” says Karen Giberson, President of the Accessories Council. So if you want to add a little pop to your jewelry box, here are the top trends to look for in 2026.
STYLING TIP
Large-scale earrings bring attention to your face. To avoid looking over-the-top, keep the rest of your jewelry delicate and simple.
TIP
If teaming rings with a wide cuff, wear them on opposite hands to balance the look.
Stack them up on one finger, or for something more “now”, split them up over a few. “Stacking is a great way to create your own signature look,” Giberson says.
When it comes to arm candy, more is more continues to be on-trend.
Only think big and bold, and don’t stop at one— or even limit yourself to one arm. Matching cuffs wrapped around both wrists were a popular runway look.
For significant style impact, wear cuffs with bare arms or long, slim-fitting sleeves. And it’s perfectly O.K. to mix metals as long as the bangles complement one another.

“The enduring worth of our jewelry goes far beyond monetary value alone.” Greg Kwiat
THE BEAUTY OF KWIAT’S NATURAL DIAMONDS
From rough diamonds to proprietary cuts to final ring settings, every step matters. When you own a Kwiat Tiara Diamond, provenance is always a point of pride.
For more than a century, Kwiat has been among the top jewelers setting the bar for diamond quality and jewelry design. “When we talk about the quality of our diamonds, we’re talking about the extremely high standards we have for cut,” says Greg Kwiat, the CEO of Kwiat and a great-grandson of the founder, Sam Kwiat. No other brand maintains such strict parameters. “This has been the guiding principle of our company since 1907,” Greg continues, “and it remains our North Star: our diamonds should always be cut to be as beautiful and brilliant as possible.”
These impressive standards were the impetus for the 2023 launch of Kwiat Tiara Diamonds, a collection of seven iconic shapes perfectly cut to optimize the brilliance and beauty of the natural stone. The proprietary shapes include Kwiat Cushion, Kwiat Round, Kwiat Emerald Cut, Kwiat Radiant, Kwiat Oval, and Fred Leighton Round — an old European-inspired cut named for the company’s sister brand, a renowned house of antique jewels. Kwiat is also the only source in the United States for the coveted ASHOKA diamond, an elongated shape with a unique faceting pattern.
a cut above the rest
When it comes to diamond cutting more broadly, there are two primary components to consider: brilliance and weight. Since natural diamonds are sold by carat weight, the prevailing line of thought throughout the entire history of within the diamond industry has always been to maximize weight whenever possible. However, Kwiat takes the opposite approach. “Whenever you’re cutting a rough diamond into a polished stone, there’s always tension between preserving weight and cutting the most beautiful diamond possible,” explains Greg. “At Kwiat, we always – without fail – favor cutting the most beautiful diamond, even if it means a lower carat weight.”
a diamond in the rough
In recent years, knowing the provenance of your diamond has become the ultimate status symbol. But following your diamond throughout its entire journey — from the mine of origin to the planning, cutting, and final design — had not been possible… until now.
By leveraging nearly 120 years of experience, Kwiat is uniquely positioned to evolve the diamond industry, differentiating the way it purchases, cuts, and sells diamonds.
With longstanding relationships across all layers of the supply chain, Kwiat can track each natural stone through cutting, polishing, creating the setting, and mounting the diamond, while eliminating middlemen along the way. It’s all part of their Mine to Shine program, a highly personalized way to buy a natural, conflict-free, and ethically mined rough diamond — chosen, cut, and crafted just for you. “In an industry like ours, knowledge and relationships are really part of the secret to success,” Greg says. “This directly translates to
the sourcing and transparency we can provide to our customers through programs like Mine to Shine.”
Throughout the process, Kwiat captures 360-degree videos of the dia-
mond: planning, cutting, and polishing, as well as designing and crafting its setting. Completed rings are delivered in a keepsake velvet jewelry box, complete with GIA and GCAL reports, plus a Kwiat Tiara Diamond Report and a Certificate of Authenticity, along with a q12 code leading to the full video of the diamond’s journey.
By ethically sourcing diamonds from known origins, Kwiat instills confidence in the investment you’re making. The brand is also supporting the economies of mining regions, benefitting schools, hospitals, and other community resources. In addition, with each purchase, Kwiat donates to the nonprofit organization charity: water, which provides a family in need with clean drinking water.
a lifetime of beauty
No matter how you cut it, every natural diamond has two origin stories. There’s the most literal, the mine from which it was extracted. Then, after it’s cut, polished, set, and mounted in a breathtaking engagement ring, a diamond writes a new chapter as a symbol of joy and love.
“Over the years, I’ve seen what we call ‘the life cycle’ of a piece of jewelry from the day it’s first given, then worn and appreciated for many years, before ultimately being passed on to the next generation,” shares Greg. “Once it becomes a part of someone’s life, it begins to take on meaning through each moment it’s worn: a wedding, the birth of a child, a graduation. When I see someone wearing jewelry that’s been passed down, it’s done with such pride in the memories and love represented,” he continues. “That’s why the enduring worth of our jewelry goes far beyond monetary value.”
Each Mine to Shine purchase is delivered in a bespoke jewelry box, which includes a replica of your rough diamond and a QR code leading to a video of your diamond’s journey.

Don't save diamonds for a special occasion. They can take your basics up a notch, combining comfort, convenience and quiet luxury. Style consultant Genevieve Yraola suggests seven key outfit-making pieces you’ll wear with everything.
Why they belong in your jewelry box. Diamond studs in any size or cut are classy and timeless enough to be worn every single day. Their versatility makes them a great investment, taking your from daytime casual to a nitetime vibe.
Why it belongs in your jewelry box. A touch of diamonds — on the bezel or as markers on the watch face — adds a hint of glamour to a timepiece, yet remains understated enough for everyday wear.
Why it belongs in your jewelry box. This slim wristlet of diamonds is subtle enough for everyday wear. Stack a few together to up the sparkly impact or layer one in with a bunch of metal bangle bracelets for a low-key pop of shimmer.
Why it belongs in your jewelry box. A delicate, understated diamond necklace works as well with a cocktail dress as with a T-shirt and jeans. It’s also an all-season accessory, looking perfectly appropriate with a white button-down shirt or a skinny tank top. You can also layer it with other similar-weight necklaces for an on-trend look.
Why they belong in your jewelry box. Not only is it a great everyday look that has achieved classic status, but there are also numerous ways to wear stacked rings. The thin diamond bands can stand alone, be mixed in with your other dainty rings, or sparkle lovers can pile on a few for a more powerful look. “You can start with one and just keep adding to your collection,” says Yraola.
Why it belongs in your jewelry box. Bold and beautiful, the cocktail ring comes in many shapes and sizes, and it's always a conversation piece. It’s the perfect accessory for simple outfits from a little black dress to jeans and a crisp white shirt, says Yraola, whose guiding principle is the larger the piece, the less jewelry you should wear.
Why they belong in your jewelry box. Yraola advises investing in a pair of linear-shaped drop diamond earrings for evening over a statement necklace. “It’s the shape for fall,” she says. In addition, “the longer shape will elongate the neckline and offer more versatility, no matter what the outfit.”
