It is important that you read this letter in its entirety to understand the conditions in Israel and why we feel it is time to return to Israel in 2026. Even the LDS Church’s BYU Jerusalem Center has reopened. On April 29, 2025, students returned to the BYU Jerusalem Center. Here is what the Jerusalem Center said about their return:
“Jerusalem has been quiet for several months, and there are strong signs of improved security throughout the Holy Land as ceasefire agreements in both Gaza and Lebanon appear to be holding. There are likely to be occasional short-term flare ups and ups and downs in the security situation as negotiations move from temporary cease-fire agreements to permanent cessations of hostilities in Gaza and along Israel’s northern border. Nevertheless, we are confident that students who enroll in Spring/Summer 2025 program will have a safe and meaningful experience.”
What a difference the last few months have been in the Middle East. With all the changes, Israel is open and the airlines are flying into and out of Israel again. Without a crystal ball, no one can ever be certain what the future holds for the Middle East. But, with all changes we feel it is time to give you our imperfect evaluation on how safe it is to return to Israel:
• Hamas: For years, Hamas has been sending rockets into Israel. They have been more of an annoyance than a real threat to Israel. It wasn’t until they massacred innocent people in small villages close to the border with Gaza that Israel had had enough. We honestly don’t see a real solution to Hamas. They don’t care about their citizens, they are willing to sacrifice them to stay in power. Israel recently decided that they are going to take over and occupy Gaza. They are calling up the reserves. Hamas has run out of time. If there is no settlement soon, that greatly diminishes Hamas from Gaza, Israel will likely end up taking over and controlling all of Gaza. Either way, we do not see Hamas as a real threat to tourism in 2026.
• Hezbollah: Hezbollah has always been the greatest threat to Israel. The rockets fired by Hamas have rarely reached any of the areas where our groups have toured. However, the rockets fired by Hezbollah have easily hit in areas where we have toured with our groups. Our decision to return to Israel was mostly conditional on the solving of the Hezbollah problem. It has now been many months since Israel, Lebanon and Hezbollah came to an agreement to stop fighting. Most of Hezbollah’s rockets have been destroyed and many of their most radical leaders are no longer there. AND most importantly, Hezbollah’s re-arming has become next to impossible with the fall of Assad in Syria. Almost all of Hezbollah’s rockets, guns and money flowed from Iran to the Hezbollah through Syria. The new government in Syria does not like Iran and refuses to allow anything to flow from Iran to Hezbollah! With all of the changes in Syria, the U.S. is now working with them and are in the process of lifting the sanctions against the country. You can see why we feel the issues with Hezbollah are, for now, likely over.

We feel it is time to start planning on our group's return to Israel in the Spring of 2026.

• Israel: Our educator will bring to life the story of Jesus, the apostles and the ancient prophets throughout Israel. You will experience Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Jerusalem Center, Nazareth, Garden of Gethsemane, Mount of Olives, the Garden Tomb, Mount of Beatitudes, Mt. A cave was discovered a short distance down from Jerusalem with writings of a Prophet from 600 BC. The Nomad tribes consider the hill above the cave to be a sacred place. As they put it, “Before there was Muhammad there was a great prophet named Lehi and he taught from that hill”. We do not know if this is the Lehi mentioned in the Book of Mormon, but we do know this will be a huge highlight as you visit an active archaeological dig. The excavations are on an Army Base. Only those excavating and Fun For Less Tours have been given permission to go onto the site.
• Jordan: Petra was voted in as one of the “New” 7 wonders in the world and it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Several movies have been filmed in Petra including “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” The Martian,” and “Dune”
• Egypt: Our tour to Egypt brings you the BEST of the BEST in Egypt: Cairo, the Pyramids and King Tut’s treasures; Luxor: The Karnak Temple the Luxor Temple and Valley of the Kings. Before we charter a train or ship, the owners have to experience it first, to check out the quality and itinerary. There were six things that convinced them they needed to charter trains in Africa for our passengers:

Colors and Castles is close to the right name of this tour, the true name should have been the Mid-Evil Walled Villages and Castles during the Colors of Provence season in Southern France. There wasn’t room to put this as our heading. During the summer in Southern France, most every window and building in the villages and cities are adorned in beautiful flowers, BUT the best time of all is when the south of France is covered in lavender fields. There are certain places in the world that have the greatest highlights in a very short period of time, like being in the Netherlands during the short tulip season or being in Japan during the short cherry blossom season – that is what it is like being in the South of France during the short lavender blossom season. You not only experience all the normal beautiful flowers, you will also be blown away with the staggering beauty of the lavender fields. The best time to see the beautiful lavender fields is between mid-June to mid-July! We hit it perfectly as we board our AmaWaterways cruise ship on June 25, setting sail through the heart of the best area to enjoy lavender fields and ancient cobblestone villages. This special cruise is a wonderful chance to enhance your studies of the New Testament with David Butler. In the past, we have spent time studying the New Testament with David Butler. What better way to bring the scriptures to life than to visit some of the areas the Apostles traveled to. • The purchase power of the dollar this year compared to past years: In the past for every dollar we traded for Indian Rupees (India’s money), we received somewhere between 42 to 50 rupees. This year for every dollar we are able to get close to 90 rupees per dollar. This is the best exchange rate we have ever seen. We are purchasing the Indian rupees now and putting them in the bank to insure the huge savings for our 2026 group. No one knows when the number of rupees per dollar will go back to 40 rupees per dollar.
• Pushkar Festival: As part of your tour, you will have the rare opportunity to experience the famous Pushkar Festival. The Pushkar Festival is considered the oldest festival in the world. It has been held annually for over 1,000 years. National Geographic created a list of the ten places you should see before you die. Pushkar Festival was on that list. · Pushkar Festival: With so few days in a year that the 1,000 year old festival is held and so few places to stay in the Pushkar area, very few tourists are ever able to experience the Pushkar Festival. Even those that go most have to stay in tent camps, but not our group, we have one of the few 5-star resort hotels for our passengers. This is only available to our passengers because of connections the owners of Fun For Less Tours have in India.
· Maharaja Palaces: Many of them are so stunning that they become an attraction unto themselves. We usually leave early and return around 4pm back to the Maharaja Palaces. This gives our passengers time to leisurely explore the beautiful grounds, take a swim in some of the beautiful swimming pools and enjoy dinner on patios overlooking the manicured gardens.
· The Country of Bhutan: Few, if any, tourists ever get permission to visit Bhutan – it's like stepping back in time where little has changed in hundreds of years. This is an optional extension, but if you have time and have the money we highly recommend it. Bhutan wants to limit the number of tourists. One of the ways is that they charge $200 a day per tourist, in addition to any visas, flights, hotels and other expenses related to the trip. That means, with our group staying 4 nights, we are paying between $800 and $1,000 per person just for the right to enter Bhutan. Expensive, but we believe it is worth it.
