Meet the Farmer: Hudson River Fruit

Hudson River Fruit is one of the largest apple growers in the northeast region, with a legacy spanning four generations.

It began in 1932 with Isadore “Izzy” Albinder, a Russian Immigrant, started selling apples from a pushcart in Brooklyn. In 1963, Izzy and his son Harold officially founded the company, later purchasing their own packing house and orchards in the Hudson Valley. By 1972, they operated over 1,000 acres. Harold’s son Danile, and later his granddaughter Alisha joined the business, making it a true family enterprise. Today, Hudson River Fruit is a vertically integrated company, growing, packing, storing and delivering their apples. Their orchards are Global GAP certified,
