the ROSENBERG FAMILY
By Lauren Loeb Ungar
In The Sanctuary, light seems to linger a little longer, and for Bailey and Max Rosenberg, that warmth is reflected in every corner of their home. It’s a place alive with laughter, imagination, and love where three children, a devoted Labrador, and two creative parents have built a life that balances joyful chaos with everyday calm.
November for the Rosenberg’s is particularly magical: all three children have November birthdays. “It’s wild!” Bailey laughs. “Greer turns two on November 1, Lorelei turns four on November 14, and Shepard turns six on November 17. We basically live in birthday mode all month. It’s one celebration after another!” Not to mention, the couple will also celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary in November.
Three Little Adventurers
Shepard, Lorelei, and Greer bring endless motion and magic to the Rosenberg household. “We call them our little adventurers,” Bailey says. “Shep is our curious and
thoughtful one; he loves animals, sports, and learning new things. Lorelei is our fearless performer; she loves to dance, cheer, and sing at the top of her lungs. And Greer… she’s pure joy and mischief rolled into one. She keeps us all on our toes.”
Shepard attends kindergarten at Pontchartrain Elementary, Lorelei is settled at Cedarwood, and Greer is the family’s tiniest sidekick, tagging along on walks, errands, and pool days. Between dance, cheer practice, flag football games, and piano lessons, their schedule is packed but full of fun. “When we’re not driving from one activity to the next,” Bailey says, “we’re usually outside swimming in the backyard pool or playing with neighbors.”
Their ten-year-old British Labrador, Honey Bear, is always nearby. “She’s truly part of the family,” Bailey says. “She’s so loyal and gentle, always right beside the kids, whether we’re walking to the park or playing in the yard.”
A Love That Spanned the Globe
Bailey and Max’s story began somewhere far from Mandeville—on the open seas. They met during college on Semester at Sea, an international study program that took them around the world by ship. “It was such an incredible experience,” Bailey recalls. “It shaped us both individually and as a couple. We learned early how to embrace adventure together.”
Max, originally from New York, studied in Boston and later earned his master’s in London. Bailey, who grew up in Old Mandeville, attended college in California. Their backgrounds may have been different, but their outlooks aligned perfectly. “Max works in tech sales, and I’m an international event planner,” Bailey says. “Our work lives balance structure and creativity. It keeps things interesting.”
come home to Louisiana. “My parents actually found our current house before we did,” Bailey laughs. “They walked through it and sent us a video saying, ‘This is the one.’ They were right.”
Making The Sanctuary Home
The Rosenbergs moved into their Sanctuary home nearly four years ago, drawn to the neighborhood’s natural beauty and family-friendly spirit. “I grew up knowing about The Sanctuary,” Bailey says. “My aunt and uncle, Tommy and Jete Crosby, helped develop it. I always admired how it was designed to preserve nature and community. Moving here felt like coming full circle.”
Before settling in, the couple tackled a few major renovations: refinishing the floors, expanding the laundry room, and more recently, updating the pool and back porch. “We love projects,” Bailey says. “It’s been a labor of love, and we’re still not done. Landscaping is next once the weather cools off.”
The family’s favorite space is the open-concept living room, where tall ceilings and natural light set the tone. “It opens right into the kitchen, so it’s truly the heart of our home,” Bailey says. “That’s where life happens: meals, playtime, laughter, everything.”
Their décor blends old and new, with a deep appreciation for meaningful pieces. “We love shopping at Renaissance Interiors in Metairie and finding treasures in New Orleans antique stores,” Bailey says. “Some of our favorite furnishings were passed down from my grandparents who lived Uptown. They add so much history and character.”
Even with beautiful antiques and thoughtful design, the house is unmistakably kid-friendly. “With three little ones, toys are everywhere,” Bailey says. “We spend most of our time building Legos, playing hide-and-seek, or having dance parties in the living room. We try to remember that this season of chaos is fleeting—and we’re soaking it all in.”
They married in November 2017 and, after stints living in Austin and Hawaii with their two oldest children, decided to k

A Community That Feels Like Family
The Rosenbergs say life in The Sanctuary has exceeded every expectation. “It’s the perfect community to raise kids,” Bailey says. “It’s safe, welcoming, and filled with wonderful families. The nature trails, the sense of space all add to the peace of living here.”
On the weekends, they often go boating with friends on the Tchefuncte River, spend afternoons in the backyard pool, or take walks with Honey Bear. When it’s time to eat out, they love Leonardo’s, Bon Saki, and Viet Kitchen for casual family meals. “For date nights, Tchefunctes is our favorite spot. It feels special, but it’s still so close to home,” Bailey says. Coffee Rani is a go-to for lunch with the kids. “They love that they can color on the tables,” she adds.
When they want a change of scenery, they go to their family ranch in Mississippi, take adventures in the mountains of North Carolina, and spend time along the Gulf Coast. “We just love being outdoors,” Bailey says.
Now that November is here, the Rosenberg home is brimming with anticipation. Three birthdays and
a wedding anniversary fill the calendar, turning the month into a joyful whirlwind of parties, laughter, and gratitude. It’s a season that perfectly captures what life in The Sanctuary means to them—love, togetherness, and the simple joy of being home.

10 SMART-HOME TIPS FOR 2025 (AND BEYOND)
Smart living means tech that works quietly, keeping your home efficient, safe, and beautiful. Fine Southern Properties shares tips to help you invest smart and stay ahead.
1. Start with Your Ecosystem: Pick a primary platform (Apple, Google, Amazon) and build around it. Fewer apps = fewer headaches, better reliability, and an easier handoff to future buyers.
2. Strengthen the Backbone: Great gadgets need great Wi-Fi. Consider a modern mesh network and, where practical, run Ethernet to access points, TVs, and cameras for a rock-solid performance.
3. Secure First, Then Automate: Change default passwords, enable two-factor authentication, update firmware, and audit what your data devices share. If possible, place smart gadgets on a separate network.
4. Prioritize Features Buyers Actually Use: Thermostats, lighting, cameras/doorbells, and leak detection deliver daily utility and broad appeal, smart upgrades most likely to be appreciated at resale.
5. Keep It Minimalist: Today’s trend is fewer hubs and cleaner installs, hidden power, discreet sensors, and streamlined controls that enhance design instead of creating clutter.
6. Make Water Your Friend, Not Foe: A smart main shutoff paired with leak sensors can prevent major damage and insurance headaches; it’s one of the most practical wholehome upgrades.
7. Plan the Garage for the Future: If you’re upgrading electrical, consider conduit and capacity for an EV charger. Reliable Wi-Fi in the garage also benefits cameras, chargers, and smart openers.
8. Stage the Tech (and the Transfer): Before listing, rename devices generically, gather manuals, and prepare a “smart home transfer” sheet with apps, locations, and reset steps to ensure an easy buyer handoff.
9. Lean on AI Features Where They Help: New devices use AI to learn routines, optimize energy use, and surface helpful automations, convenience that homeowners notice, especially in climate control and lighting.
10. Safety Extends to Cyberspace: Educate the household on digital safety around cameras, locks, and access codes, good practice for owners, guests, and short-term rental scenarios.

From Overdone to Effortless: The New Era of Subtle Cosmetic Enhancement
Beauty trends are evolving—and it’s about time. The era of exaggerated lips, frozen foreheads, and overly sculpted cheeks is giving way to an aesthetic that celebrates balance, softness, and timelessness. At McDaniel Dermatology & Skin Surgery Institute, our team of board-certified dermatologists shares the same philosophy rooted in dermatologic expertise and an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy. We approach rejuvenation with both medical precision and aesthetic artistry. A touch of filler to revive volume or a few carefully placed units of Botox to soften expression lines can yield a profoundly natural, refreshed appearance. Our philosophy centers on balance and subtle enhancement—refining, not redefining—so each result feels authentic, effortless, and uniquely you.
To extend and enhance these results, we pair injectables with our:
• State-of-the-art laser and light treatments
• Results-driven skin care lines
• Aesthetic services such as microneedling, chemical peels, and customized facials
Our comprehensive approach maximizes the longevity of each treatment while maintaining a consistently rested and polished look.
True beauty doesn’t shout—it whispers. At McDaniel Dermatology, the goal isn’t to change your face, but to help it radiate confidence, vitality, and the grace of your natural self.

Tate’s Tail: The Sweet Life of a Rescue Pup
Some dogs steal your heart the moment you meet them—and for Tate’s family, that moment came in May of 2018. Still grieving the loss of their beloved 16-year-old Westie just two weeks earlier, they hadn’t planned on finding another dog so soon. But fate had other ideas. A friend mentioned a scruffy pup waiting at The Northshore Humane Society, and curiosity turned into love at first sight. “He rolled over for a belly rub,” his owner recalls, smiling. “That was it! I knew he was coming home with me.”
After a good grooming and one cozy night under his new family’s roof, Tate’s adoption was official. He already knew his name, and since the family had a close friend with the last name Tate, they decided it was meant to be. According to a dental exam, Tate was about a year old when adopted, making him around eight now.
Each May, his family celebrates his “Gotcha Day” with presents and plenty of love; Tate loves nothing more than sticking his nose into a gift bag to see what’s inside.
Unlike the purebred dogs they’ve owned before, Tate was chosen purely from the heart. “The shelter had so many dogs who needed homes,” his owner says. “We didn’t go looking for a breed, we went looking for a bond.” And they found it in this scruffy, soulful pup.
Tate’s look is as unique as his story. With a shaggy blonde coat, dark expressive eyes, floppy ears, and a long fluffy tail, he’s often compared to the classic movie dog, Benji. His fur even shifts colors throughout the year, sometimes showing hints of orange or black, especially on his ears. “He doesn’t shed, which is a huge bonus!” his owner laughs. A DNA test claimed he was part Chihuahua and part German Shepherd, but the family lovingly calls him a “one-of-akind original.”
Tate’s gentle spirit makes him easy to adore. He’s calm, affectionate, and fiercely loyal, especially to his “person,” who he follows like a shadow everywhere. He’s smart too, known for helping with laundry by picking up dropped socks in exchange for a treat. He loves his best buddy, Jakey the Wheaten Terrier and never misses a Mardi Gras dog parade or a chance to chase a ball.
His happiest place on earth? The family’s second home in Miramar Beach, where he enjoys long walks, golf cart rides, and soaking up the Florida sunshine. “He’s been such a blessing,” his owner says. “Tate’s story reminds us that adoption doesn’t just save a life—it fills your own with unconditional love.”

Why Do Dogs Lick Their Paws?
This is a question I get asked often at VetNaturally. Owners observe the activity and then usually think it’s anxiety or allergies. The truth…dogs lick their paws for all kinds of reasons. It takes some time and detective work to figure out the actual cause. Here are the top reasons in our clinic:
1. Allergies from food or the environment can make paws itchy.
2. Yeast or bacterial infections, or even chemicals on grass and floors, can irritate the skin.
3. Nails that grow too long change the way a dog walks and cause discomfort.
4. Parasites such as fleas or mites can hide between the toes.
5. Dry or cracked paw pads from hot pavement, icy sidewalks, or low humidity can also be painful.
6. Arthritis or nerve problems may create tingling or pain that leads to licking.
It’s not normal for a dog to “always lick his paws.” If the licking is frequent or intense, it’s time to check in with your veterinarian to find the root cause.

Jason Thompson with Grass Inc GARDENING TIPS BY SANCTUARY RESIDENT
Taking care of your garden during the winter months is easier than you’d expect. It may seem like plants would hate the cold, but they actually love it—if you plant the right types. Follow these “rules of thumb” to improve and protect your landscaping during the winter months.
• INSTALL NEW PLANTS:
This is one of the best times of year to plant new, non-tropical flowers and plants. The hellebore flower, also called the Christmas rose, can withstand frost and snow! Other types you can include are violas, tulips, lavender, roses, and Chrysanthemums.
• NATURALLY INSULATE YOUR PLANTS:
Use pine tree straws, a natural and free source, to insulate your plants from the cold. Mulch is another natural insulator, keeping the soil warm at its roots.
• ARTIFICIALLY INSULATE YOUR PLANTS:
Use a frost-cloth to cover, in its entirety, plants that cannot tolerate the cold, like citrus trees and other tropical plants. If you don’t have a frost cloth, use a burlap sack or other insulating material. Secure the coverings to the ground to prevent them from becoming casualties to the elements.
• PEST CONTROL:
Critters don’t hibernate during the winter. Continue your routine pest control inspections and treatments.
• OH DEER!:
Yes, winter brings out the beautiful yet ravenous deer who want to eat your plants. One way to deter the deer is to install deer sprinklers. You can also plant specific kinds of plants, including snapdragons and types of dianthus, which are bitter, spicy, and not appetizing for the deer.

For Anthony, LEGO® has never been just a toy—it’s been a lifelong passion. He first discovered the colorful bricks at the age of four, building simple structures and letting his imagination run free. By ten, a babysitter handed him his first “adult” LEGO set after walking in on him proudly standing beside a life-size DUPLO creation. From that moment on, LEGO became more than play, it became part of who he is.
Today, Anthony channels that same joy into Bricks & Minifigs, where he serves the community of LEGO enthusiasts young and old. The store isn’t just about buying and selling sets, it’s about connection. “There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from clicking the final piece of a set, LEGO or not, into place,” Anthony says. “It’s a feeling of creativity, patience, and accomplishment. If you understand that feeling, you understand the community we serve.”
Anthony’s path to ownership wasn’t straightforward. After earning his high school diploma and some college coursework, he became a certified mortuary assistant. But his heart wasn’t in that career. Instead, he leaned into retail, spending two decades climbing the ranks from associate to supervisor and manager across multiple companies. That experience shaped the way he now runs his own business, with structure, care, and a people-first approach.
As a self-described Southern gentleman, Anthony weaves integrity, tradition, and hospitality into every corner of his store. He strives to create a friendly, welcoming environment where families feel comfortable spending time. “I want my store to be a place where you feel at home,” he explains, “with associates who are knowledgeable, approachable, and full of classic values.”
Of course, his favorite part of the job is the people—especially the kids.
“Seeing their faces light up when they get a new set, or even their very first set, makes me unimaginably happy,” he says. “I know that feeling of awe, and I want to spread that joy.”
Anthony also has advice for aspiring store owners: build a team you trust.
“Don’t do it by yourself,” he cautions. “I was stubborn at first, but once I started leaning on my team’s strengths, everything became easier.”
Born and raised in San Diego, Anthony now finds his true home with his wife and in the community he’s building, brick by brick. For him, Bricks & Minifigs is more than a store. It’s a place of creativity, connection, and shared joy.

Al Copeland Jr. CEO AND CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD AL COPELAND INVESTMENTS, LLC
For generations, the Copeland name has been synonymous with Louisiana food. Growing up in Houma, Al Copeland Jr. saw firsthand the long hours, creativity, and pride that went into serving food with bold Louisiana flavor. “My father always said it’s all about having a winning attitude, no matter what the odds. He believed every obstacle was an opportunity to improve upon your original plan,” Copeland recalls.
Those lessons have shaped his approach to doing business. Today, Copeland leads Al Copeland Investments, LLC as CEO and Chairman, overseeing a portfolio that includes the Al Copeland Family of Restaurants, Diversified Foods & Seasonings, a hotel division in the metro New Orleans area, and the Al Copeland Foundation.
As a true visionary in hospitality, Copeland remains personally involved in employee development and actively curates the menu.

Not only was Copeland honored by Governor Jeff Landry for his tireless dedication to innovative cancer care in Louisiana, but he was able to fulfill his promise to work towards finding a cure for the cancer that took his dad’s life. To date, thousands of patients have participated in clinical trials through this effort, five of whom are now cancer-free.

Penelope Baudier
Spreading Cheer, Confidence, and Kindness Everywhere
At just eight years old, Penelope Baudier is already proving that kindness, confidence, and a can-do spirit can take you far. A proud third grader at Northlake Christian School, Penelope shines both inside and outside the classroom from cheering on her team to inspiring others as Little Miss St. Tammany Parish Fair Queen.
Penelope’s love for cheerleading started at home, thanks to her big sister, Asia. “She was always doing flips over the furniture,” Penelope says. “Before she could break any of Mom’s furniture, she put us in cheer at Crown!” What began as a fun activity quickly grew into a passion. Now, as the 3rd Grade Cheer Lieutenant, Penelope takes her leadership role seriously. “I’m a good leader and I like encouraging the girls to learn new things,” she says proudly.
This same enthusiasm helped her shine on another stage—the Little Miss St. Tammany Parish Fair. Penelope won both the Fair Queen and Most Photogenic titles, impressing the judges with her poise and positivity. “I get to be an example to other girls who may not feel confident in themselves,” she says. “It’s important to be brave when you’re afraid.”
Penelope also shares her talent for performing at The Music Academy for the Performing Arts in Mandeville, where she recently sang “Tomorrow” from Annie in a recital. Though she admits she gets nervous, she focuses on the music to stay calm, a valuable lesson
for any performer.
When she’s not cheering, singing, or studying math (her favorite subject), Penelope loves spending time with her family, especially at their beach house or during lively family parties with Uncle Luddy and Kiki.
Her favorite meal? Butter noodles. Her favorite motto? Be kind. “Even if people are mean to me, I’ll still encourage them,” Penelope says. “If I’m kind to them, maybe they’ll want to be kind to others.”
With her heart full of compassion and her sights set high, little miss Penelope is already showing the world what true leadership and joy look like.
