MEANS TO WHAT FASHION ME?

Fashion to me means clothes, how I express myself through clothing I wear. What I chose to wear it depends on the mood, occasion and get creative to show off my personality and style. Social media like TikTok helps me with ideas but I decide what type of clothing to wear and show others how I’m feeling.

Dave Feiling Capturing Magic: The Artistry øḟ

In the enchanting realm of children's fashion photography, one name shines brightly: Dave Feiling. With an impressive career spanning over two decades, Dave has carved a significant niche for himself, specializing in commercial, corporate, and editorial photography. His captivating images have found their way onto pages across the globe, but what truly distinguishes him is his fervent passion for lifestyle photography. In an exclusive interview with KidFash, Dave graciously shares insights into his artistic journey, creative process, and the immense joy he finds in collaborating with young models.

Dave’s journey into the world of photography began unexpectedly during his time in the Navy. While stationed between deployments, he immersed himself in the motocross scene, taking on the role of crew photographer for a friend. This unexpected foray behind the lens ignited a lifelong passion for photography that would eventually lead him to pursue formal education at Brooks Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography. After completing his studies, Dave made the bold decision to relocate to New York City, where his career truly began to flourish.

What intrigues Dave most about the art of photography is its inherent visual problem-solving aspect. "I enjoy making photographs, not just taking them," he emphasizes. This artistic philosophy is mirrored in his collaborative approach to shoots, where he thrives on the synergy of teamwork. "It takes a village," he asserts, highlighting

His captivating images have found their way onto pages across the globe

the significance of working in unison to achieve extraordinary results. This guiding principle has been a cornerstone of his career, fostering a sense of community among his fellow creatives.

When it comes to personality, Dave believes it plays a vital role in photography, especially when working with children. Each young model brings their own unique traits, quirks, and energy to a shoot, and Dave is adept at capturing these fleeting moments of authenticity. He understands that every child has a story to tell, and it is his job to bring that story to life through his lens. "It’s all about creating an environment where they don’t feel intimidated and have the freedom to fail," he explains. By encouraging children to showcase their personalities, he captures images that resonate deeply and authentically.

For Dave, the challenges that accompany a photoshoot are integral to the excitement of the experience. He revels in the unpredictability of location shoots, where elements such as weather and surroundings can dramatically shape the final outcome. One particularly memorable assignment took him to the picturesque island of Willemstad, Curacao, where he enjoyed a dreamlike shoot with the Director of Tourism, gaining VIP access to a lively Carnival festival and a personal tour guide. "Life doesn't get much better than that!" he reflects, encapsulating the thrill of such unique experiences.

"It’s all about creating an environment where they don’t feel intimidated and have the freedom to fail,"

Another standout moment in Dave's career was a recent project for a recruitment brochure at a prestigious private girls' school in Toronto. He likened the institution to a real-life Hogwarts, relishing the opportunity to oversee the entire creative direction of the shoot. "Every time I strolled into a classroom, I was greeted with a chorus of 'Pick ME! Pick ME!'" he recalls, illustrating the infectious excitement that comes from engaging with young models eager to showcase their personalities.

As a proud father of two accomplished children, Dave’s greatest joy lies in his family. Both of his

kids have passionately pursued their aspirations, with one thriving in the music industry as a program director, while the other is dedicated to nurturing young minds as an elementary school counselor. For Dave, maintaining a balance between his professional endeavors and family life is paramount, and he firmly believes in cherishing the fleeting moments spent with loved ones. "Work can wait, but life won’t," he wisely advises, highlighting the importance of prioritizing family connections.

"Work can wait, but life won’t,"

When it comes to working with children, Dave offers invaluable insights to create a fun and engaging atmosphere during photoshoots. He encourages young models to partake in minor decision-making, fostering a sense of ownership and investment in the creative process. Techniques such as casual conversation, playful movement, and even the promise of a post-shoot treat, like ice cream or candy, help to cultivate a relaxed environment where children can truly shine and express themselves authentically. He also emphasizes the importance of making them feel valued and heard. By allowing children to voice their opinions, even on non-critical decisions, he fosters an atmosphere of trust and collaboration, which often leads to the best results.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dave has had the privilege of collaborating with KidFash Magazine, consistently finding each experience both professional and enjoyable. A particular highlight for him was the cover shoot for Issue 7 in July 2017, featuring the talented Laya DeLeon Hayes. The magical combination of vibrant graffiti, whimsical balloons, and Laya’s radiant sparkle came together to create an unforgettable image that resonated with both Dave and the magazine’s readers.

In a constantly evolving landscape of children’s fashion, Dave Feiling stands as a beacon of creativity, collaboration, and heartfelt passion for photography. His artistic journey serves as a reminder of the profound magic that arises when passion meets purpose, and his work continues to inspire young models and budding photographers alike, leaving a lasting impact on the world of children’s fashion photography. By celebrating personality in every shoot, Dave not only captures images but also tells the stories of the children he works with, making each photograph a unique reflection of their spirit and individuality.

Story

A Blessing Beyond Imagination

November 17, 2020, began like any other day for Rachel, a speech therapist working in Early Intervention. Amidst the world's uncertainty, an ordinary therapy session turned into a life-changing moment.

During the session, a warm and loving foster mom posed a question that would alter the therapist's path forever: "Do you know anyone who might be able to adopt?" The question struck a chord, igniting a possibility that had long been tucked away.

Rather than offering immediate answers, the therapist suggested prayer. Together, they prayed over Dax—a sweet child in need of a forever home—and his future. Though uncertified as foster parents, the therapist felt an undeniable pull to explore the possibility.

A Prayer Written in Faith

That evening, Rachel shared the story with her husband, Tim, an Occupational Therapist Assistant. To her surprise, Tim revealed a private prayer he had been writing in his gratitude journal since 2016: "Lord, if it’s Your will, bring forth a son." For years, the couple had pursued parenthood through fostering dreams of adoption and supporting adoptive families through their church, despite facing closed doors and heartache.

Fueled by faith, the couple reached out to the foster family, expressing their interest in adopting Dax. Despite the logistical challenges—Dax was in Texas but a ward of the state in Florida—their journey to parenthood began.

A Miracle in the Making

Within months, they became a certified foster-toadopt home. Florida’s Child Protective Services, the judge, and Dax’s advocate all recognized their home as an ideal placement. Nine months of paperwork and anticipation followed, leading to a day filled with profound significance.

On July 28, 2021—a date once marked by loss and grief—the couple officially adopted Dax in a virtual courtroom. What had once been a reminder of miscarriages and shattered dreams became a moment of redemption and answered prayers.

Your Story Isn’t Over

To anyone facing the pain of waiting or loss—there is still hope. This story is a testament to the unexpected ways miracles unfold. Through faith and perseverance, even the most heartbreaking journeys can lead to the most beautiful destinations.

As the couple reflects on their path, they hold tight to a question from their gratitude journal: "If the deepest pain you’ve experienced was meant to prepare you for a purpose greater than you imagined, how might that change the way you view your journey?" For them, that purpose arrived in the form of a son—and a blessing beyond imagination.

"If the deepest pain you’ve experienced was meant to prepare you for a purpose greater than you imagined, how might that change the way you view your journey?"

King Moore Spotlight on

The Remarkable 9-Year-Old Multi-Talented

Superstar!
Michelle Elizabeth
Photography: Margallete Francke (@m.franckephotography)

Introducing King Moore, a sensational 9-year-old phenomenon who is making significant strides in the dynamic worlds of acting, modeling, and music. This vibrant young talent hails from Tampa, Florida, and has recently made the exciting move to Los Angeles to chase his dreams. With a heart full of passion and inspired by iconic figures such as Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, and Bruno Mars, King is on a remarkable journey toward stardom. He is also inspired by Soulja Boy, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. His love for performing was ignited at the tender age of three, and since that moment, he has been a relentless force in the entertainment industry, captivating audiences with his extraordinary abilities.

**From YouTube Dreams to the Grand Stage**

King’s enchanting voyage into the world of entertainment began with countless hours spent immersed in the depths of the YouTube universe, studying his favorite artists. “I started crafting my own songs using the words I heard them say,” he fondly reflects, remembering the early days of his creative journey. After some playful persuasion from his dad, who encouraged him to wait until he turned five, King eagerly returned on his birthday to express his unwavering desire to pursue a career in music. “It was a dream I couldn’t let go of, and I was determined to make it happen!” he exclaims. Not long after, with unwavering support from his parents, he enrolled in acting classes and began exploring the world of music creation, setting the stage for an exciting future.

“It was a dream I couldn’t let go of, and I was determined to make it happen!”

**A Natural Performer with Hidden Talents**

In addition to his impressive vocal abilities, King possesses a flair for playing the piano and guitar, showcasing his diverse musical talents. “There’s nothing quite like performing on grand stages, especially when it’s my first time in front of an audience,” he beams, his enthusiasm infectious. His vibrant personality shines through in every character he portrays, whether he’s embodying a lively Baby Possum in a recent production or captivating crowds during his exhilarating performances on tour. “I love being able to make people smile and feel good through my music and acting,” he shares, highlighting his passion for entertaining.

King’s aspirations are as expansive as his talents. He dreams of starring in blockbuster films, touring the globe, and even performing the national anthem at prestigious sports events. “One day, I want to have my own TV show!” he declares, eyes sparkling with excitement at the thought of future possibilities.

“There’s nothing quite like performing on grand stages,”
“Fashion is about feeling good and showing who you are,”

**Fashion Forward: A Canvas for Individuality**

One of the most challenging aspects of King's career is trying to find his own style and voice in both music and fashion. When it comes to fashion, this superstar firmly believes that clothing is a powerful medium for self-expression. “On set, I wear outfits that fit the character I’m portraying, but off set, I get to choose clothes that truly reflect my personality,” he explains with enthusiasm. “There’s a lot of pressure to fit into certain trends or expectations, because of how much social media has made people feel like you have to look a certain way, have a certain following, etc,” King adds, “I had to remind myself that being true to who I am is the most important thing. Sometimes it took a while to really figure out what felt right for me, and I had to push through a lot of doubts from negative people. But

with the support of family, friends, and team, I learned to trust what I feel and keep growing, even when things got tough. Now, I'm proud of how I’ve created my own path in both music and fashion. I love what I do and I’m having fun doing it.”

King’s fondness for bright colors and comfortable attire perfectly embodies his playful spirit. Moreover, with his very own merchandise line called King Moore World, he is always ready to showcase his distinctive style, proudly donning his exclusive designs. “Fashion is about feeling good and showing who you are,” he adds, emphasizing the importance of individuality in style.

**The Balancing Act: Juggling Education and Stardom**

Navigating the life of a young artist presents its own unique set of challenges. King acknowledges the difficulty of balancing his academic responsibilities with his burgeoning career. “Managing schoolwork while touring can definitely be a struggle,” he concedes. His solution lies in homeschooling, which allows him to maintain a structured schedule that helps him stay focused and energized for both his studies and artistic endeavors. “My parents are amazing at keeping me organized, so I can do well in school and still pursue my dreams,” he notes appreciatively.

**Inspiration from Family and Friends**

King attributes a significant portion of his success to the unwavering support and encouragement of his family. They not only motivate him in his career but also play a crucial role in shaping his personal style. “My mom and dad make sure that I look fresh and stylish wherever I go,” he jokes, showcasing the lighthearted side of his personality. “They always remind me that if I look good, I’ll feel good, and that helps me perform my best!”

**Finding Strength in Challenges**

Like any young artist, King has encountered his fair share of obstacles along the way. He emphasizes the importance of remaining authentic in an industry that often prioritizes superficial appearances. “I concentrate on what brings me joy and make sure not to get swept away by fleeting trends,” he asserts, demonstrating his grounded and mature outlook. “Staying true to myself is what really matters, and I have my family to remind me of that,” he adds, showcasing the depth of his character.

**A Star in the Making**

As King Moore continues to illuminate the entertainment landscape, his infectious energy and determination are sure to inspire countless others. With aspirations as grand as his talent, it is evident that this young superstar is destined for remarkable achievements. “I want to show other kids that if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve your dreams,” he shares, embodying the spirit of perseverance.

So, keep your eyes peeled—King is only just beginning his journey! Through his music, acting, and unique sense of fashion, King Moore serves as a powerful role model for children everywhere, encouraging them to embrace their individuality and pursue their dreams with unshakeable confidence. With every step he takes, King is paving the way for a bright and promising future, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!

I want to show other kids that if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve your dreams,”

2. Where or who do you get your fashion and style inspo from?

— @miss_lexi_jade Photographer: @lisamareephotography2020

— @louisafl0ra Photographer: @jasongaskin

One of the toughest challenges I’ve faced is trying to find my own style and voice in both music and fashion. There’s a lot of pressure to fit into certain trends or expectations, because of how much social media has made people feel like you have to look a certain way, have a certain following, etc. but I had to remind myself that being true to who I am is the most important thing. Sometimes it took a while to really figure out what felt right for me, and I had to push through a lot of doubts from negative people. But with support from my family, friends, and team, I learned to trust what I feel and keep growing, even when things got tough. — @falynndance Photographer: @sheaannephotos_

It’s definitely hard to do sometimes! But My mom and dad keep me organized by keeping a schedule so I can focus on my schoolwork when I need to, and then practice time for my work as an artist. I also always ask for help when I need it, whether it’s from my online teacher or family, to make sure I’m staying on top of both. Designing with Heart and Personality

In the world of kid’s fashion, every stitch tells a story. For teenage fashion designer Katie Davis, her designs do more than just follow the latest trends—they reflect who she is. With a personality full of energy, kindness, and vision, Katie’s collections are not only stylish but also deeply personal.

Katie’s journey into the fashion world started with a special purpose. Inspired by her own

story of being born a micro preemie—just one pound, six ounces—she created The Angel Collection, a line dedicated to celebrating babies born prematurely. One of her favorite pieces from that collection was a jumpsuit with long, flowing sleeves. "It was my way of showing the gift of life," Katie shares. For her, every design has meaning, and every piece reflects a part of her heart

"I love to hear what others want in fashion,"

But where does Katie’s inspiration come from? It starts with listening. "I love to hear what others want in fashion," she says. Whether it’s designing for the vibrant city life of Nashville or creating a vintage-inspired collection influenced by her love for Audrey Hepburn, Katie designs with her audience in mind. "What’s most important is understanding what makes people fall in love with a garment."

Her personality shines through in her work. Katie describes herself as upbeat and outgoing—traits that come through in her bold fabric choices and unique designs. "I love using materials that most people wouldn’t think to use," she says with a smile. This willingness to experiment and think outside the box has helped her stand out in the ever-changing fashion industry.

Being a young designer comes with challenges, but Katie approaches them with focus and determination. One of the biggest lessons she’s learned is that it’s okay not to be perfect. "I’ve had to overcome the idea that I have to be like everyone else," she explains. "But those challenges made me who I am—and without them, I wouldn’t have started designing."

Katie believes that fashion is a powerful way to express personality. "Clothing can tell a story through the material, the beadwork, and even how it’s worn," she says. When designing for models, she envisions someone who is passionate, kind, and eager to make a difference. And that’s exactly how she hopes people see her through her work—classy, conservative, and comfortable.

Her advice to other young designers? "Be kind—people will always remember how you treat them." In an industry that’s constantly changing, Katie stays true to herself by focusing on her own path and not comparing herself to others. As someone once told her, "You do you."

"Be kind—people will always remember how you treat them."
Fashion is more than just clothing

For Katie Davis, fashion is more than just clothing—it’s a way to share her story, her heart, and her personality with the world. And with each new design, she’s proving that being yourself is always in style.

Embracing Uniqueness

How Two Models with Alopecia Let Their Personalities Shine

Photography for Hadley: @meagangilbertphoto

In the world of fashion, beauty is often defined by uniqueness—and no one embodies this more than Morgan and Hadley, two incredible young models with alopecia. As part of KidFash Magazine's "PERSONALITY" issue, we had the opportunity to interview these bold and inspiring girls to learn how their vibrant personalities and distinctive journeys have shaped who they are today.

In the world of fashion, beaut is often defined by uniqueness
" It made me feel strong and fearless,"

Confidence, Creativity, and Kindness: Meet Morgan

When asked to describe her personality in three words, Morgan chose "confident, creative, and kind"—and it's easy to see why. Diagnosed with alopecia at the age of three, Morgan has never let her hair loss define her. Instead, it has become a source of strength.

"At first, I didn’t understand why my hair wasn’t growing back," she shares. "But as I got older, I realized being different is actually really special. It’s made me stronger and helped me love myself for who I am."

Morgan's modeling journey began during the pandemic when her mother entered a photo of her in the Bailey Agency's online model search—a competition she won. From there, opportunities snowballed, including a collaboration with the renowned Creative Soul Photography team.

One of her favorite shoots to date was a bold, powerful portrayal inspired by the film The Woman King, where she embodied Nawi, a fierce defender. "It made me feel strong and fearless," she recalls. "I love modeling because it lets me express my confidence and creativity—it's like stepping into a character while still being myself."

Morgan's go-to pose? "Hands on hips," she says with a smile. "It makes me feel powerful. I also love smiling with my eyes—it shows confidence without saying a word."

Despite the occasional challenge or misunderstanding in the industry, Morgan's unwavering belief in herself keeps her moving forward. "I use it as motivation to prove that beauty isn’t just one thing," she explains. "My confidence and determination help me keep going. I know I stand out because of my unique look—I'm memorable."

Outgoing, Funny, and Fearless: Meet Hadley

Hadley describes herself as "kind, funny, and outgoing," but she also reveals a playful side: "I’m a bit sarcastic," she admits with a grin. Her alopecia journey began with fear and confusion, but over time, she found peace and purpose. "I came to understand that God made me this way for a reason," she says.

Her introduction to modeling began as a way to feel beautiful, but it quickly transformed into something greater. "I realized I could inspire someone who looked like me," she explains. Her favorite modeling experience so far? A glamorous, high-energy photoshoot in Virginia with Bling Boss Studios, where she got to experiment with countless outfits and makeup looks.

When it comes to poses, Hadley loves the contrast between a serious face and her infectious giggle shots. This balance reflects the duality of her personality—strong and determined, yet lighthearted and fun.

Like Morgan, Hadley has faced her share of challenges in the modeling world. "There have been opportunities I've missed, and sometimes I wonder if it’s because of my alopecia," she confesses. "But my personality keeps me driven and motivated. I won’t stop chasing my dreams."

Outside of modeling, Hadley is making a difference through her platform, Benevolent Bravery, where she shares positive affirmations in public spaces. "I know how much positive words helped me, and I wanted to share that with others," she says proudly.

Personality as a Superpower

Both girls know firsthand how vital personality is in making a model stand out. "Looks might catch someone’s eye," Morgan says, "but personality is what makes you unforgettable." Hadley echoes this sentiment: "When you love yourself and have undeniable confidence, it doesn’t give others a choice but to feel the same."

Representation for kids with alopecia is still growing, but these two are paving the way for greater diversity in fashion. "When kids see models who look like them, it makes them feel seen and valued," Morgan says. Hadley adds, "I've received messages from parents all over the world—places like Australia and Canada—telling me how much it means to their kids to see someone like me modeling. That means everything."

Advice for Embracing Your Difference

Both Morgan and Hadley are passionate about encouraging other kids to embrace what makes them unique. Morgan’s advice? "Your differences are what make you beautiful. Your personality is your superpower—let it shine." Hadley agrees: "Love yourself. When you do, the world has no choice but to love you back."

As for the future, both girls are dreaming big. Morgan envisions continuing to model while exploring acting and designing a hat line celebrating uniqueness. Hadley, a proud "stay-at-home dog mom" to her two beloved puppies, is excited for new modeling opportunities and maybe even a future on the soccer field.

Through their confidence, kindness, and fearless personalities, Morgan and Hadley are not just redefining beauty—they’re proving that the most powerful thing any model can wear is their true self.
