Inside, you’ll find two stunning residences by local interior designers who have mastered the art of creating homes their clients are thrilled to come home to. Discover the latest fall design trends in Home Details, where Clayton Gray Home curates this season’s must-have pieces. In Portfolio, Cruz Interiors, Inc. transforms a new build into a cool, modern oasis for first-time homeowners — proving that thoughtful design and natural textures can turn any space into a sanctuary.

We also turn the focus to women’s health. Local physicians share the latest insights on heart health, cancer care, menopause, and holistic well-being. As the caretakers of families, women often put their own health last. These experts remind us to listen to our bodies and seek guidance when something doesn’t feel right.

If you’re craving a mountain getaway, consider Park City — even if skiing isn’t your thing. In the off-season, this scenic destination offers hiking, biking, fly fishing, and even white-water rafting. We loved our stay at The Chateaux Deer Valley, a serene escape with spectacular views and impeccable service.

In this issue’s Scene section, we highlight some of Tampa Bay’s most exciting philanthropic events — from Arts & Aces benefiting the Tampa Museum of Art to Rays on the Runway supporting the Children’s Dream Fund. We also had a fantastic time hosting our own METROMixer at the ORA preview center. A special thank you to Phil Yost and Compass Land & Title, LLC for your continued partnership.

As we head into a new season, may your home, health, and heart feel refreshed and inspired.

Cheers,

British artist Rebecca Louise Law stands amidst her ethereal floral installation ,“The Orchid Show.”

The Art of Survival A Conversation on Conservation

The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens unveiled The Orchid Show 2025: Rebecca Louise Law and is on view through December 7, 2025 at the downtown Sarasota campus. Internationally acclaimed for her suspended floral installations, British artist Rebecca Louise Law transforms the Richard and Ellen Sandor Museum of Botany & the Arts into an ethereal sanctuary of preserved blooms, leaves, and light.

Her newest installation—crafted with materials of her own collection and those gathered from Selby Gardens’ landscapes— invites visitors to experience the poetry of preservation and the quiet resilience of the natural world. We sat down with Law to explore her creative vision, her fascination with transformation and survival, and the

beauty found in the fragile balance between humanity and nature.

Law’s installation at Selby Gardens explores the theme of survival, which is relevant to the institution and its collections in several ways. In METRO’s interview, hear first hand, her take on it all.

METRO: What inspired your focus on the theme of survival for your Selby Gardens installation?

Rebecca Louise Law: Looking at epiphytes at Marie Selby Gardens and the purpose of a flower led me to the title ‘Survival.’ The flower exists for the plant to survive. I have collected and preserved 2 million flowers over the past 20 years. Half of this collection will be exhibited

in this installation. The whole artwork is an example of preservation and survival.

METRO: How does adding flowers from Selby Gardens to your archive shape the legacy of your work?

RLL: The imprint of a place is incredibly valuable to my work - the plant life and the people of a place. The flowers collected from Marie Selby campuses were entwined with wire by the local community in Sarasota. My archive is a herbarium that travels; examples of flora have been preserved from all over the world. The plant varieties are recorded and imbedded into the work with copper wire. It is all legacy: the plants and the people.

METRO: What do you hope visitors feel or experience as they move through this installation?

RLL: A connection to nature and a chance to observe all the earth provides. To have gratitude for what we have and to energise the viewer to look after what we have.

METRO: How do your other artistic practices influence your large-scale floral installations?

RLL: My supporting works help me explore nature in more detail. I love delving deep into botany and natural science through sculpture, painting, drawing, reading and writing.

METRO: What role can art play in encouraging people to connect with and protect the natural world?

RLL: Art is a way of communicating. Art can capture a moment in time. Art can allow a viewer to ‘muse.’ Art can inspire, educate, upset, disgust, drain and energise. We react to our physical world. I believe to care and connect to this earth, we need time to notice its beauty and awe. I want art to energise viewers to care for the natural world by giving them a place to connect to nature without distraction.

Tampa Bay Doctors Redefine Women’s Wellness

Women’s health is not defined by a single phase — it’s a lifelong journey that evolves with every season of life. From the physical transitions of menopause to the rising focus on heart health, early cancer detection, and holistic healing, women today are rewriting

the conversation around wellness. Across Tampa Bay, leading physicians and programs are championing this transformation— encouraging women to embrace an open dialogue, proactive care, and a balance between body and mind.

Navigating Menopause with Confidence

It’s a natural phase of life — and Dr. Megan Tirone is glad that the conversation around menopause is finally out in the open. “We don’t want to hide it,” says Tirone, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for BayCare Women’s Health Services. As the director of St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital and Winter Haven Women’s Hospital and Women’s Health Services, Dr. Tirone is passionate about supporting women through every stage of life.

During menopause, women may experience hot flashes, mood changes, sleeplessness, and bone loss — all related to the body’s natural decline in estrogen. These shifts can also increase risks for osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. “When those symptoms begin to interfere with everyday living, it’s time to seek medical help,” advises Dr. Tirone.

patient and physician about what’s best for each individual.”

Dr. Tirone notes that recent studies show HRT carries minimal risk and great benefits when used appropriately.

“It’s about balance,” she says. “There’s no one-size-fits-all approach — I tell my patients to take the dose that treats their symptoms and improves their quality of life.”

Fortunately, treatment options have come a long way. “Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) has evolved significantly,” she explains. “There are many choices now, from bioidentical hormones to patches, rings, and topical treatments. It really comes down to a conversation between

Beyond hormone therapy, Dr. Tirone emphasizes lifestyle as a cornerstone of women’s health. A balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D supports bone and heart health, while weight-bearing exercises like walking, running, or light resistance training help prevent bone loss. “Yoga is also fantastic for balance and flexibility,” she adds. “And never underestimate the power of routine screenings and checkups — the simple things truly make all the difference.”

“The most important step,” she concludes, “is seeing a licensed practitioner who’s well-versed in menopause care and treatments. You don’t have to navigate this phase alone — there are safe, effective, FDA-approved options to help you feel your best.”

Matters of the Heart Tampa Bay Hospitals Lead the Way in Women’s Cardiac Care

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death among women worldwide, yet it often goes undetected due to subtle symptoms and outdated perceptions that it primarily affects men. Fortunately, local experts are changing that narrative.

At Tampa General Hospital’s Women’s Heart Program, gender-specific care is at the forefront. The program—part of TGH’s Heart & Vascular Institute—brings together cardiologists, surgeons, and electrophysiologists to provide comprehensive care tailored to women’s unique cardiovascular needs. Patients benefit from state-of-the-art cardiac imaging, personalized prevention plans, and access to clinical trials offering the latest medications.

TGH is raising the bar for heart care with the recent addition of two GE Healthcare Revolution APEX 512-Slice computed tomography (CT) scanners. The advanced scanners leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies to deliver faster, clearer and more precise scans, refining diagnoses and treatments of cardiovascular diseases.

The purchase of the scanners was made possible thanks to a generous gift by the Ferman family to the TGH Foundation. “This technology is a game-changer for cardiac imaging,” remarked Dr. Shone Almeida, director of the Cardiac CT program at Tampa General and a faculty member of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. “With sharper images and faster scan times, we can diagnose heart disease with greater confidence, allowing cardiologists to make better treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes.”

At BayCare Health System, Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Lang Lin of Morton Plant Hospital echoes the same message: awareness saves lives. “Heart disease in women often presents differently,” she says. “It is important to be aware of your body and bring any health concerns to your physician. Women are traditionally the family caregivers and they generally show up late to game for preventative care. This delayed care provides not favorable outcomes. If you don’t feel right, speak up.”

BayCare’s Heart and Vascular Institute offers noninvasive diagnostic tools such as the coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan, helping patients identify risk before disease develops. “Quick, easy, non-invasive tests can make a major difference,” says Dr. Lin.

BayCare physicians are also deeply involved in clinical research, helping bring new therapies to Tampa Bay. In 2012, Morton Plant was the first local hospital to replace a heart valve without open-heart surgery — a procedure that is now standard of care. “Medicine is constantly evolving,” Dr. Lin adds. “We want women to stay steps ahead of the game through early diagnosis and prevention.”

“Breast cancer awareness has made incredible progress,” she says. “Now it’s time to bring that same attention to heart health — because with early detection, women can live longer, healthier lives.”

Preventing Cancer Before It Starts Early Detection and Innovation in Cancer Care

In the fight against cancer, early detection is everything. That’s why BayCare Health System is launching a groundbreaking initiative — the High Risk Cancer Program — designed to identify individuals with elevated cancer risk before symptoms appear.

Led by Erika Oschmann, APRN, and Dr. Peter Blumencranz, medical director of the BayCare Cancer Institute and Tim McMahon, the institute’s director, the program uses a five-minute risk assessment questionnaire provided by CancerIQ to evaluate risk factors for nine cancers, including breast, ovarian, colorectal, and pancreatic. “The goal is early detection,” says Oschmann. “By assessing family history, genetics, and lifestyle factors like BMI and smoking, we can detect risk early and tailor a plan for each individual.”

Results from the online assessment trigger follow-up from BayCare’s team, who create personalized monitoring and screening plans. The annual goal is to reach over 50,000 people throughout West Central Florida with the new CancerIQ questionnaire. “If we receive feedback for elevated risk, we call and set an appointment for a more detailed questionnaire. “This is not for patients who already have cancer,” explains Oschmann. “It’s for those who may have a higher risk of developing cancer— we want to keep people healthy and proactive about their care.”

Morsani College of Medicine. The TGH Breast Cancer Center is transforming early detection, treatment, and survivorship support for patients across its 15-county service area.

The TGH Cancer Institute, recently accepted into the prestigious Association of American Cancer Institutes (AACI), is now recognized nationally for excellence in research, treatment, education, and community engagement.

“AACI membership signals that a cancer institute is committed not only to excellence in patient care and research but is also part of a larger mission to accelerate progress against cancer,” said Dr. Eduardo Sotomayor, vice president and executive director of the TGH Cancer Institute. “It is a significant recognition of our singular commitment to creating a leading cancer institute that brings innovative cancer care across the state of Florida and beyond.”

TGH’s Breast Cancer Center is one of Florida’s highest-volume programs, offering advanced imaging, genetic counseling, precision radiosurgery, and even robotic microsurgery with the Symani Surgical System — the first of its kind in the Southeast used to perform microsurgery for lymphedema. Support programs like TGH’s STAR survivorship initiative provide patients with nutrition counseling, therapy, and emotional wellness resources to help them thrive beyond treatment.

McMahon calls the program “a passion project” for Dr. Blumencranz. “We want to move the needle toward proactive care for those at high risk,” McMahon says. “The earlier we detect cancer, the more successful and less invasive treatment can be.”

Tampa General Hospital is advancing breast cancer care through innovation and collaboration with the USF Health

“The highly effective resources of the AACI will help take us to the next level as we continue to build a world-class institute grounded in compassion, innovation and expertise,” said Sotomayor. TGH continues to redefine what’s possible in breast cancer care—bringing hope, healing, and world-class expertise to every patient’s journey.

The Power of Holistic Health

True vitality isn’t just physical — it’s the harmony of body, mind, and spirit. For Dr. Lisa Saff Koche, Owner and Chief Medical Officer at Spectra Wellness Solutions, holistic health means treating the root causes of imbalance, not just the symptoms.

“In 25 years of practicing medicine, I’ve seen that when one piece of the puzzle is ignored, the whole system suffers,” says Dr. Koche. Fatigue, weight gain, anxiety, and hormonal changes often have deeper origins in stress, gut health, or emotional wellbeing.

Her approach starts with curiosity: Why is this happening? By understanding how environment, mindset, relationships, and trauma affect biology, women can create true, lasting change. “Symptoms aren’t random — they’re signals from the body’s innate intelligence,” she explains.

alongside evidence-based medicine. “It’s about learning to listen to your body,” says Dr. Koche. “That’s how we shift from survival mode into true healing.”

Her philosophy is simple yet transformative: “Every woman deserves to feel vibrant and whole. With the right tools and support, healing from the inside out is possible and stepping into that is what I call becoming truly sovereign in your health.”

For many women, healing means blending science and spirituality — using tools like meditation, breathwork, or time in nature

Across Tampa Bay, women’s health leaders are proving that empowerment comes from knowledge, openness, and connection — whether it’s talking about menopause, taking heart health seriously, embracing prevention, or cultivating holistic balance.

As Dr. Tirone reminds us, “It’s the simple things that make all the difference.” And today, those simple things — awareness, action, and compassion — are transforming women’s health for generations to come. M

Layered Heritage A Fall Edit for the Home

Design leans into heritage this fall season. European influences, masculine details, and a high-impact sense of restraint create homes that feel layered and personal. A house is not made by sets of furniture. It is built from collections that tell a story, pieces that feel gathered and lived with.

Heritage Refined

Smoky glass decanters and amber-lit chandeliers whisper of old-world salons, where brass is burnished, lacquer gleams like a patent shoe, and vessels heighten the ritual of what they hold. These details echo fall fashion’s suiting with crisp lines and tailored restraint, a nod to tradition that feels both classic and new.

Textures with Character

Fall interiors are grounded in touch. Plush shearling chairs, velvet lounge seating in rich hues, leather accents, and suedefringed ottomans create layers of texture that feel collected, not coordinated. Collections become playful here, a way to build personality rather than perfection.

The Art of the Table

Context is everything. Black marble surfaces set with graphic dinnerware and slender glassware remind us that vessels are more than functional. They frame the experience. Stripes reemerge in décor, borrowed from wardrobes, becoming bold statements on the table as much as in tailoring.

Into the Wild

Earthy raffia walls, stone, and wood textures pull us outside and back in again. Velvet patterns nod to animal prints, while rugs with raised surfaces deliver tactile surprise underfoot. These are the layers that create mood, heritage paired with a hint of the untamed.

Sculptural Restraint

Statement sconces, mirrors with unexpected curves, and fluted forms all prove the high impact of restraint. One conversation piece, placed with intention, carries a space with elegance. The result is not excess but focus, a home edited with purpose.

For fall styling, masculine details meet playful textures, fashion crosses into décor, and restraint makes the biggest statement of all. At Clayton Gray Home, the collection becomes what makes a home, and every piece tells its part of the story.

Visit Clayton Gray Home on Water Street in Tampa or shop www.claytongrayhome.com.

Modern Serenity A Fresh Oasis by Cruz Interiors

The vision was clear: a cool, organic, modern oasis. Cruz Interiors delivered just that for a young couple building their first home—creating a space that perfectly balances luxury, relaxation, and livability.

The home’s open-concept design flows effortlessly, with the dramatic double-height living room serving as the centerpiece. A sleek fireplace anchors the space, doubling as a focal point and media wall with a mounted TV for easy viewing. The L-shaped white sofa provides ample seating, complemented by two camel-toned accent chairs that bring warmth and modern flair.

On either side of the fireplace, glass doors open to the outdoor living area, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces. The patio offers comfortable seating, ideal for fall evenings spent entertaining or unwinding under the stars.

Under the staircase, wood slat walls add texture and enhance acoustics, while a rock garden accented with oversized pots and greenery introduces a natural, sculptural touch. The whitewashed, wood-plank flooring throughout the main level grounds the design in a soothing, neutral tone. Overhead, modern pendant lighting suspended from the second floor enhances the

sense of height and drama.

Cruz Interiors layered natural textures, warm woods, and subtle, luxurious finishes to evoke a calm, spa-like atmosphere. Every detail—from material selection to lighting—was chosen to create a sense of effortless sophistication.

The finished residence reflects exactly what the couple envisioned: a light-filled, organic sanctuary where they can relax, host, and enjoy life’s everyday moments. It’s a home that feels both refined and personal—a beautiful example of thoughtful design and creative collaboration. M

Elevated Elegance On Bayshore

A New Beginning at the Ritz-Carlton Tampa

When back-to-back hurricanes swept through the Tampa Bay area in 2024, many Davis Islands homes were left in ruins — including those of several clients of McKinlay Rose Interiors. Among them was a couple whose home was destroyed beyond repair. Looking for a new start, they reached out to designers Kristen McKinlay and Melanie Rose, co-owners of McKinlay Rose Interiors, for help.

The couple had recently purchased a penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Tampa, intending it as an investment rather than a primary home. But with their Davis Islands property gone, the condo suddenly became their sanctuary. At the time, the residence was still unfinished — the kitchen was in place, but the closets, pantry, crown moldings, and other interior finishes had yet to be completed. McKinlay and Rose immediately mobilized their team, getting the homeowners settled with essentials within weeks before embarking on a comprehensive design and build plan to complete the space.

Only three treasured pieces made the move from their former home: a jeweled mirror, a baby grand piano, and an antique family desk. Everything else was thoughtfully curated by McKinlay Rose Interiors. With their in-house design and construction teams, the designers crafted custom features including a statement media and fireplace wall, tray ceilings, and hand-applied Venetian plaster ceilings and walls by artisan Ron Francis.

“The design is best described as sophisticated, classic elegance,” said McKinlay. “We wanted the couple to feel as though they were on vacation every day.”

“With its panoramic views of the bay, the penthouse feels like an elegant cruise ship,” added Rose. “The clients have traveled all over the world, so our goal was to create a luxurious retreat they could truly call home.”

For the husband, who had raised his family on Davis

Photography by HDM Photography—Melissa Hess

Islands and was initially hesitant to embrace condo living, the transformation made all the difference. “He quickly realized the ease and freedom that come with Ritz-Carlton living,” said Rose.

Because the couple moved in during construction, the McKinlay Rose team carefully phased each project to minimize disruption. “Working in a high-rise presents logistical challenges,” explained Rose. “Each day, we ensured the home was left as clean and livable as when we arrived.” Within three months, the penthouse was nearly 75 percent complete — just in time for the holidays.

The design palette is serene and timeless, featuring soft whites, grays, golds, and subtle blue accents. The open floor plan creates a sense of flow between the main living areas, with multiple seating arrangements for conversation and entertaining. From the private elevator, guests are welcomed into a refined entry foyer accented by a custom credenza, artful lighting, and a handcrafted rug. A five-leaf iridescent art installation draws the eye and sets a tranquil tone inspired by nature.

The dining area features a table for ten, complemented by acrylic candle holders and mirrored wall accents that reflect light beautifully. Overhead, a seven-light brass chandelier adds a touch of modern glamour. “We like to think of lighting as the jewelry of the design,” McKinlay shared. “It’s what brings the sparkle.”

In the living room, an extra-long sofa and swivel chairs create a cozy yet elegant setting to enjoy the fireplace and stunning Bayshore views. Thoughtful wall coverings add texture and depth, while layered lighting enhances the space from morning to evening.

The owners’ suite is a sanctuary of calm with its private balcony, water views, and a soothing color palette. A soft sitting area with plush chairs and rugs adds warmth and comfort. The adjoining bathroom evokes a spa-like atmosphere, wrapped in marble from floor to ceiling. A freestanding soaking tub, glass-enclosed shower, and floating cabinetry provide both beauty and function, while the custom wood accent wall and oversized round mirror create a stunning focal point.

The result is a home that balances modern sophistication with timeless elegance — a serene escape that embraces light, texture, and luxury. For this couple, the penthouse represents not only a fresh beginning after loss, but a new way of living — surrounded by beauty, comfort, and the ever-changing reflections of Bayshore just beyond their windows. Where Modern Design Meets Natural Harmony

It’s always exciting to be part of a home from the very beginning. When Frank and Melissa Zaitshik began planning their modern residence in Stone Lake Ranch, they turned to the team at Ackerbloom Design Interiors to collaborate with Olivera Custom Homes. The partnership began at the architectural stage, ensuring that every design decision—from finishes to furnishings—was perfectly integrated from the ground up.

“It was ideal timing,” said Principal Designer Debra Ackerbloom. “We were able to influence the architectural planning while simultaneously developing the interior design concept. That allowed us to select finishes, fixtures, and furnishings that seamlessly aligned with the vision for this stunning home.”

The guiding inspiration was to balance modern materials with natural tones and textures, pairing performance textiles and leathers with clean lines and dramatic design moments. The result is a home that feels sophisticated yet grounded—luxurious without sacrificing comfort.

Situated on one and a half acres, the two-story residence spans nearly 8,000 square feet, with four bedrooms and six baths designed for effortless living and entertaining. The exterior, finished in smooth warm-gray stucco and accented with textural stacked stone, creates depth and contrast. A dark charcoal roof and sleek architectural lines add to the home’s striking curb appeal.

Visitors enter through a custom pivot door into a grand open floor plan that immediately reveals the home’s modern aesthetic. The foyer, living room, and sweeping staircase are unified by glossy sand-toned porcelain tile, setting a sophisticated tone. A custom multi-pendant chandelier and coordinating aged brass sconces from Visual Comfort provide warm, sculptural lighting that enhances the architectural drama.

The heart of the home is the great room, anchored by a breathtaking 25-foot fireplace and media wall clad in largeformat porcelain from Ceramic Matrix. Designed by Ackerbloom Design Interiors, the installation is both a focal point and an architectural statement. Plush sofas and

oversized chairs are arranged for conversation, while rich wood accent tables provide contrast against creamy neutrals. Hints of blue in the artwork and pillows evoke a tranquil, water-inspired atmosphere.

In the kitchen, functionality meets elegance. Expansive double islands topped with soft white porcelain provide ample workspace, while Visual Comfort pendants and a bold brass chandelier illuminate the room. Floor-toceiling white cabinetry ensures abundant storage and an airy feel. A butler’s pantry, painted in a deep teal and illuminated by a statement pendant, adds a splash of color and personality.

The living room showcases soaring two-story windows that flood the space with natural light. A deep accent wall clad in Phillip Jeffries wallpaper complements the expansive fireplace opposite, creating a balanced mix of texture and warmth. Thoughtfully arranged furnishings—a round coffee table, sofa, and four chairs— encourage intimate conversation.

The home office is designed for focus, featuring builtin cabinetry and deep gray walls that create a calm, professional atmosphere. The guest bath brings a playful touch with blue and green wave-patterned tile that, as Ackerbloom describes, “reminds you of a sunny day with soft waves in the background—a soothing, joyful space.”

The primary suite continues the home’s serene aesthetic, highlighted by a freestanding soaking tub with a floor-mounted filler—an ideal retreat for relaxation.

Outdoors, the pool and spa area extend the living space and capture the essence of Florida living. A covered dining area and plush lounge seating invite relaxation, seamlessly blending luxury with leisure.

Every detail of this Stone Lake Ranch residence reflects a harmonious balance of modern design and natural warmth—an inviting home that celebrates both artistry and livability. M

Mountain Magic: Fall in Park City

Why the off-season is the perfect time to visit.

When the Visit Park City team came to Tampa last year, they painted a vivid picture of this mountain town best known for its ski slopes. But what we learned—and later experienced firsthand—is that Park City’s magic extends far beyond winter. The offseason offers a breathtaking blend of crisp mountain air, scenic trails, and a thriving culinary scene that makes it the perfect year-round getaway.

Our journey began with a direct fivehour flight from Tampa to Salt Lake City, followed by a short scenic drive to Park City. We checked into The Chateaux Deer Valley, part of the Stein Collection, nestled just outside the main downtown area. The resort feels like an elegant alpine retreat, complete with mountain views, three swimming pools, a heated spa, and outdoor fire pits perfect for roasting s’mores under the stars. Recently renovated, The Chateaux

blends luxury and comfort, offering easy access to the heart of Main Street while maintaining a serene mountain escape.

For a Florida native, the cooler temperatures and golden aspen trees were a refreshing contrast to home. Park City’s summer and fall seasons invite visitors outdoors with countless opportunities for hiking, biking, and water activities. One of the most memorable adventures was a morning of fly fishing on the Provo River in the Uinta National Forest. With guides from All Seasons Adventures, we waded into the sparkling water surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. Our guide, Clark, led us to the best fishing spots and shared his expertise, making it a peaceful yet exhilarating experience— even without catching a fish.

After a morning on the river, we stopped for lunch at High West Distillery, the world’s only ski-in gastrodistillery. Their handcrafted bourbon

cocktails paired perfectly with housemade pretzels, Utah elk meatballs, smoked trout dip, and deviled eggs. It’s a must-stop for anyone looking to savor the flavors of the mountain lifestyle.

Park City has earned its reputation as a foodie haven. At Union Patisserie & Wine Bar, we enjoyed a refined “Apero” experience with oysters, bruschetta

topped with prosciutto, and a delicate whipped cheese roll crowned with caviar. Next door, Le Depot Brasserie, under the direction of James Beard Award-winning Chef Galen Zamarra, reimagines French classics with contemporary flair.

Dinner at Riverhorse on Main, a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star recipient for 16 consecutive years, was another highlight. The menu changes seasonally, but the Trio of Wild Game is an unforgettable dish that reflects the region’s rustic sophistication.

For brunch lovers, Glitretind Restaurant at the Stein Eriksen Lodge is a true indulgence. The buffet overflows with breakfast favorites, fresh seafood,

carving stations, and an extravagant pastry selection that’s almost too beautiful to eat.

Park City’s historic Main Street is brimming with boutique shops, art galleries, and cafés. Take your time strolling through town, and you might even spot one of the area’s famous moose wandering across the street.

Our visit coincided with the Deer Valley Mountain Beer Festival, where attendees took a scenic chairlift ride to sample craft brews, enjoy live music, and soak in panoramic mountain views. The festival opened with a five-course Brew Masters Dinner—an absolute must for beer enthusiasts.

Just outside Park City, cider and

chocolate lovers will find more to enjoy. Dendric Estate in Kamas offers exceptional, bubbly cider made from their own recently harvested apples. Meanwhile, a tour of Ritual Chocolate reveals how their small-batch, bean-tobar creations are crafted—a treat for any chocolate connoisseur.

With its mountain views, sophisticated dining, and endless outdoor adventures, Park City is far more than a ski destination. It’s a place where nature, flavor, and relaxation meet in perfect harmony. As the fall leaves begin to turn and the air cools, there’s no better time to plan your visit— and like me, you’ll be dreaming of your return before you even leave. M

Gulf Flavors and Sunset Views

Oystercatchers at Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay

For nearly four decades, guests have been savoring fresh, locally sourced seafood paired with coastal flavors and stunning sunset views of Old Tampa Bay. Since 1986, Oystercatchers has remained one of Tampa’s most beloved dining destinations—where timeless style meets the best of the bay.

We recently revisited this classic spot we’ve been enjoying for over thirty years, and it’s as impressive as ever.

The bar offers a lively yet relaxed setting, ideal for gathering with friends or family over craft cocktails or a glass of wine. The patio, with its breezy waterfront views, is perfect for happy hour or a pre-dinner toast.

The Chef’s seasonal menu celebrates the best of what’s fresh. This fall, don’t miss the Seared Scallops—a standout dish featuring cashew ajo blanco, butter-braised local radicchio, and bacon jam. The culinary team’s commitment to supporting local growers who share their dedication to quality and sustainability shines through in every bite.

We started with house-made Milk Bread, served with guava-saffron and

charred citrus butters, along with Braised Pork Belly and classic Oysters Rockefeller. The raw bar selection rotates with the tides, featuring the freshest oysters available.

Salads are far from an afterthought here. The Caesar Salad with smoked oyster dressing, crisp croutons, pecorino Romano, and shallots delivers bold, savory flavor, while the Wedge Salad— topped with buttermilk blue cheese, red onion, chopped egg, and lardons—brings a touch of nostalgia with a refined twist.

For entrées, the Day Boat Catch showcases whatever is freshest from the docks of Tampa Bay. Our Black Grouper was cooked to perfection— lightly crisped, flaky, and full of flavor. We ended the meal with the decadent Coconut Cream Pie, a guest favorite layered with dulce de leche and a buttermilk crust worth every indulgent bite.

Longtime locals will remember Oystercatchers’ iconic Champagne Brunch—and good news, it’s back. The restaurant now offers a Sunday Brunch Buffet on the first Sunday of each month, with à la carte brunch options on all other Sundays M

Elevated Eats, Retro Vibes, and a Whole Lot of Fun

1983 in Palma Ceia

Touted as an upscale sports bar, 1983 brings elevated comfort food, a stylish atmosphere, and a sense of play to Palma Ceia. This new hotspot blends sophistication with nostalgia, featuring a sleek, retro-deco design that feels both modern and welcoming.

The name 1983 pays homage to the birth year of owners Chas and Kyle Bruck, who, along with Three Oaks Hospitality, have created a space that balances family-friendly fun with grown-up appeal.

Inside, guests will find a spacious dining room, full-service bar, and an inviting patio that connects to an adjacent game room—a hit with kids and adults alike. From basketball hoops and racing simulators to classic arcade favorites, it’s a lively spot that’s perfect for families, friend groups, or game-day gatherings.

The menu serves up comfort food with a twist. Start with the Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls, crispy and golden with tender beef, mango

pepper jam, and queso—an instant crowd-pleaser. The crispy chicken wings, available in seven flavors from Sweet & Smoky BBQ to Hot Buffalo, are another must-try.

Lighter options shine too, like the Tuna Poke Bowl and the vibrant Fig & Burrata Salad with heirloom tomatoes, strawberries, pistachio brittle, and micro basil. The Maple Bacon Brussels make for an irresistible shared side.

Perfect for sharing, the Chicken Tender Tower arrives with five dipping sauces, and the fresh-cut waffle fries are a must. Flatbreads also impress— the Grandma’s is a cheesy classic, while the Brie and Apple Flatbread is next on our list to try.

With numerous TVs throughout and an AudioFetch system that streams sound directly to your earbuds, sports fans will never miss a play. Whether you’re stopping in for lunch, dinner, or a lively weekend brunch, 1983 delivers a winning combination of food, fun, and flair. M
