Wedding Vows And ‘Fall’ In Love
Again On First Day Of Fall
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Town Clerk Richard LaMarca invite residents to renew their wedding vows at a group ceremony scheduled for Monday, September 22nd , the first day of Fall, at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay. The special ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and will take place along the beach, with beautiful views of Oyster Bay Harbor. Light refreshments will be served to guests.
“Our beautiful beach and picturesque harbor provide the perfect backdrop for couples who are looking to celebrate their love, and what better day to ‘fall’ in love all over again than in recognition of the first day of fall,” said Supervisor Saladino. “We look forward to sharing this wonderful day with happy couples who want to declare their endless love for one another.”
The ceremony will take place by the gazebo at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park & Beach, located off Larrabee Avenue in Oyster Bay hamlet. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to Oyster Bay Town Hall. This event is offered free of charge to Town residents but reservations are required. Residents interested in renewing their wedding vows should RSVP by Thursday, September 18th by contacting (516) 624-6380.
“We are so pleased to offer this wonderful event again in our beautiful hamlet and hope our residents come out and join us in affirming their commitment to one another,” added Town Clerk LaMarca.

Some people may notice a day when people who adhere to the Jewish faith gather around bodies of water and seem to throw bread, a sight that may spark curiosity. This is a tradition that takes place during Rosh Hashanah. Tossing bread or crumbs of bread into water is part of the Jewish ritual of “Tashlich,” which is a symbolic act occurring on the first day of Rosh Hashanah. Tashlich means “casting off” in Hebrew. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year when the faithful symbolically cleanse themselves of sins and other transgressions. Tossing the bread or crumbs away is symbolic of that cleansing. This helps start the new year on fresh footing.

Seaford Scholars Are Ready To Shine In New School Year
It was a pleasant and prideful day as more than 2,000 students began the 2025-2026 school year in Seaford on Sept. 2. At the high school, middle school and Harbor and Manor elementary schools, administrators and teachers enthusiastically welcomed
their students, who came prepared to continue their journey as Seaford Scholars. The high school ran on an abbreviated class schedule to
accommodate an afternoon of workshops. Students attended a principal’s welcome, counselor
assembly with motivational speaker Gian Paul Gonzalez to help kick off this year’s theme, “Seaford Scholars

Free Animal Adoption Month At Town Animal Shelter
Town Clerk Richard LaMarca announces that the Town’s Animal Shelter will waive adoption fees throughout the month of September.
“I invite and encourage residents looking for a new pet, to check in with the Town’s Animal Shelter during the month of September, as general adoption fees will be
waived. Our shelter staff has a wonderful reputation for providing great care to the pets housed there, and has a long history of uniting those looking for a fur-ever companion,” said Clerk LaMarca.
During the month of September, the shelter will waive the general adoption fees of $80 per dog and $84 per cat. All
usual adoption services will be provided, including the spaying or neutering of the animal, vaccination and microchipping. Residents interested in viewing the animals available for adoption can call the shelter to make an appointment, or visit www. oysterbaytown.com.
“In addition to free adoption month, the Town
will be hosting a Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic at the Animal Shelter on September 13th from 10 am to 2 pm. No reservations are necessary,” said Clerk LaMarca. Microchip services will also be available for a $25 fee. “If a pet is ever lost, they can be taken to a vet clinic or animal shelter where they will be scanned for a microchip ID and returned to their rightful owner.”
The Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter is located at 150 Miller Place in Syosset. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Residents interested in visiting the shelter can call to make an appointment. Once dogs reach four
months of age, owners are required to obtain an annual dog license and verification tag. The general license fee is $15 for an unneutered or unspayed dog and $10 for a neutered or spayed dog. There is no fee for
licensing a guide dog, hearing dog, service dog, war dog, detection dog or police dog. Fees for senior citizens are $5. To obtain an application for a dog license, please call Town Clerk Richard LaMarca’s office at (516) 624-6324.
