The benefits of ECM Training for me are that the training is current and credible and the format 'Get a job done' offers plenty of opportunity within a training session to process information and populate relevant documents. The training offers a suitable balance of theory with practical. I have engaged with plenty of the training myself and this has been invaluable as a new head. Because my experience of the training is so positive, I am always assured that when my leaders and teachers attend they will benefit and the new learning will enhance their roles. Time is precious in schools and it is so reassuring to know that ECM training is a good investment of financial resources.
A great refresher for tweaks we can make to our systems, with user-friendly suggestions that will be valuable going forward. Great CPD for me as curriculum leader, with some work we can implement at the end of this academic year to support us moving forward. Informal and friendly, yet very informative. Very useful to move your curriculum and assessment forward with easy implementations and quick wins.

We have developed this in-depth programme to support and develop Teaching Assistants who are working in the primary and secondary sectors as a response to schools, LAs and MATs who have asked for such a programme to be available The course is researched-based and takes into account the March 2026 EEF guidance about the effective deployment of teaching assistants and the recommendations that can lead to improved outcomes.
The course is applicable to Teaching Assistants who support individual SEND pupils, run interventions or support pupils in the classroom.
The programme consists of a series of short training sessions running regularly throughout the year and aligned with the 2019 Professional Standards for Teaching Assistants
As such the training is based on four themes:
Personal and professional conduct
Knowledge and understanding
Teaching and learning
Working with others
Within each theme, sessions will focus on key aspects of that theme, providing useful ideas and best practice from other settings Session will also include tasks for delegates to undertake between sessions to develop their practice.
Delegates will also have access to a record of professional development aligned to the national standards as part of the course material. This can be used by delegates to record their achievements and skills through the year on an ongoing basis
The sessions are research-based and will be updated with any new research or inspectionrelated news that is relevant to the role of Teaching Assistant as the course progresses.
The programme consists of eighteen sessions through the year, with six sessions a term
Each session will be half an hour in length and delegates can attend the session that runs from 9 00-9 30am or from 10 30-11 00am each day the sessions are scheduled
This should enable schools to release Teaching Assistants to attend with minimal disruption.
As a result of attending, delegates will:
Develop their understanding of their role within the context of the school
Increase their knowledge of how children learn and how to help overcome barriers to progress
Consider how to best work within the team
Further understand the importance of their own professional development
Reflect on their role in the light of the professional standards and record their impact, whilst identifying areas for further development
Be up-to-date with research and inspection practice relevant to their role
Have the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues from other settings
Be involved in a sustained programme of professional development with tasks linked to their specific role.

ECM training courses for all staff, both in person and online, have been strategically planned to ensure maximum impact on staff knowledge and expertise, resulting in strong pupil outcomes and success in achieving school priorities and objectives year after year.

My experience of ECM was one of high quality professional support and dialogue. Communication was timely and clear. There was genuine time and consideration given to the context of the Trust and how services could be delivered in a bespoke way to reflect our vision and to meet our needs. There was a real attention given to strong working relationships as well as efficiency of service. This ongoing dialogue meant that the needs of the Trust were clearly reflected in the work carried out.
I have been supported by ECM for over ten years. Each consultant I have worked with has fostered strong and trusting relationships with both me and the school. They have been honest and professional in helping and guiding the school to move forward with our development areas. Their knowledge of current educational developments and insight has been invaluable.

We are grateful for the dedication and professionalism shown throughout our recent teaching and learning review. Our School
Improvement Partner’s contribution has set a solid foundation for our ongoing efforts to elevate teaching and learning in our school and prepared us for our recent Ofsted visit. We look forward to implementing the recommendations and continuing to work towards our shared goal of providing the best possible education for our pupils.
Our School Improvement Partner brought concrete examples of how we can improve. Her manner was supportive and friendly, and she clearly understood what we wanted to get out of the review, supporting us in achieving that. The process was really useful, particularly as we are in the Ofsted window. It helped me to organise my thoughts and actions going forward, allowing me to match concrete examples to my judgements and to identify and action any necessary changes. The process provided our school with a supportive way to identify areas for development and clear, practical steps to address them. I would absolutely recommend ECM’s School Improvement Partner service there’s no reason not to. It was a professional, challenging, and supportive process that left me feeling completely in control of our next steps. Our School Improvement Partner had a manner that made it feel as though she already knew our school and genuinely wanted the best for us. A great experience.

This course provides essential knowledge and skills to navigate the digital landscape safely.
Recognise the benefits and risks of online activity and the importance of online safety
Demonstrate an understanding of the dangers online activity poses to young people and current safeguarding trends and habits and become familiar with different online risks and harms
Jam-packed with information and resources to allow you to explore communication and language in early years in greater depth. This course has provided lots of information around frameworks and what is important, and the resources given are really useful - I will definitely be putting some of the toolkits and activities into my practice. The number of children with speech and language needs is increasing every academic year, and I am aware of the importance of early years and the development of their communication and language. A lot of the children in my setting do not get the high-quality interactions they need at home, so it is even more important that we provide this in our setting. Children need the skills to communicate their wants, needs, and emotions, and it is my job to help them gain these skills. This course has supported me in doing so, and has given me a range of resources I can use moving forward. The course leader ensured that all key information was passed on while allowing us enough time to explore resources independently.

Just wanted to mention that last week I attended the online ASP/data training and this week I'm on the OFSTED training, and honestly the quality of training is just the best! Any schools not using ECM training are really missing out. The benefits for me are that the training is current and credible, and the format 'Get a job done' offers plenty of opportunity within a training session to process information and populate relevant documents. The training offers a suitable balance of theory with practical. I have engaged with plenty of the training myself and this has been invaluable as a new head. Because my experience of the training is so positive, I am always assured that when my leaders/teachers attend they will benefit and the new learning will enhance their roles. Time is precious in schools, and it is so reassuring to know that ECM training is a good investment of financial resources.
ECM have supported our school in a number of ways over the last 5 years and this has had such a positive impact upon the development and progress across the school community. Through our School Improvement Partner days, we feel confident that we have someone who knows our school and staff incredibly well, understanding our context, which enables honest conversations that have strengthened the school’s capacity to improve further. Staff now feel confident and able to articulate curriculum developments and progress against targets through the coaching provided by our School Improvement Partner. This shared and collaborative working has enhanced the delivery of performance management for the leadership team, which cascades from the ECM-supported Headteacher Performance Management. Clear objectives are devised together which allow for CPD and the realistic workloads of staff.

Our ECM Associate demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our school's success, not only through on-site assessments but also through consistent telephone support. The availability and responsiveness displayed by our leadership partner has been instrumental during times when quick decisions and guidance were paramount. One of the most commendable aspects of our leadership partner’s support was the provision of sound and practical advice. Her deep understanding of educational leadership, combined with a keen insight into OFSTED requirements, helped me navigate the challenges of enhancing our school's performance. Our leadership partner was not only a consultant but a mentor, offering guidance on strategic planning, curriculum development, and effective leadership practices.
