Parking Newsletter
Parking developments at our hospitals

19 September 2025

We’ve got a few changes coming up across our sites in the next few weeks We’ll keep you updated as best we can
If you ’ re travelling in, please use the Park & Ride wherever possible It’s still the easiest way to get to work and helps keep things running smoothly for everyone.
William Farr House - payment machines and ANPR cameras
We’ve started installing payment machines and ANPR cameras at William Farr House From Monday 20 October 2025, the cameras will go live
If you park at William Farr House, you’ll need a valid permit either monthly or pay-as-you-go This applies to all staff, even if you don’t pay for parking All staff should already have a valid permit, so please ensure your details are correct.
Anyone parking without a permit may receive a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) PCNs will also be issued for staff parking in patient areas or blocking access
Thanks for helping us keep things safe and fair for everyone
Royal Shrewsbury Hospital - additional payment machines
We’ve added more payment machines to make things easier for patients and visitors You’ll now find them in:
Emergency Department (ED)
Copthorne Building
Evolution scanning suite
If you work in a patient-facing role, please let people know about these new locations and remind patients they must pay for their parking before leaving the car park they are parked in
Princess Royal Hospital - reconfiguration
We’ll soon begin reconfiguration work at PRH to separate staff and patient parking Like at RSH, this will include ANPR cameras to help keep parking safe and fair
The aim is simple: enough spaces for patients, and enough for colleagues who need to park on site
If you work between 6 30am and 6 30pm, Park & Ride remains the best option It’s reliable, easy to use, and helps free up space where it’s needed most.

Catch the Bus Month
We really appreciate everyone who got involved this month Your feedback, stories and photos have been brilliant
If you haven’t tried the Park & Ride yet, now is a great time to give it a go. And if you ’ ve got pictures to share, please send them to sath commsteam@nhs net

We’ve had a few questions about permits and how to avoid getting a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) Here’s a quick reminder:
Make sure your registration number is correct on your permit If you change your vehicle, update your details straight away.
Everyone parking on site needs a permit – including apprentices, students and Band 2 colleagues who qualify for free parking
Stick to staff car parks and don’t move cones or cordons
If you ’ re using pay-as-you-go, you still need to register for a permit. Full instructions are available here
If you ’ ve received a PCN and want to appeal, please follow the steps on the notice
Thanks for helping us keep parking fair and safe for everyone
NHS Staff Survey
Staff Survey launches on 29 September –why not do it on the bus?
The survey takes just 15 minutes and works on your mobile All you need is access to your NHS email.
If you don’t finish it in one go, you can save it and complete it on your return journey
Quick, simple, and a good use of travel time
Darker nights on the Park & Ride

As the evenings draw in, please take extra care with your personal safety The car parks at both sites are well lit to help you feel secure
If you ’ re feeling unsure, our drivers will wait at the car parks until you ’ re safely in your car Just let them know – they’re happy to help
Park & Ride RSH - Agency staff
Agency staff can use the Park & Ride service at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital They just need to show the driver a copy of the contractors letter from their agency to confirm they’re working at RSH
It’s a simple way to make travel easier – please help spread the word
