Delegates revise by-laws, elect state, district officials at 32nd SPJST Convention held in Killeen, Texas

elegates representing 73 lodges from across Texas convened in Killeen June 13 to 15, 2016, for SPJST’s 32nd Convention. Activities began on Sunday, June 12 with delegate registration followed by a howdy party that featured music by Jerry Haisler and the Melody Five. Refreshments were also served. Special thanks to Allen Bailey and Associates, Inc. Actuaries of Austin for sponsoring the band.

Convention Highlights Supreme Lodge President Brian Vanicek of Lodge 24, Cyclone called

the 32nd Convention to order on Monday, June 13. Billy Rollwitz of Lodge 49, Rowena and Don Urbanovsky of Lodge 6, Cottonwood posted the colors. CarrieAnn Jones of Lodge 154, Fort Worth led the convention in the National Anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, and Fred Buri of Lodge 88, Houston sang the Czech National Anthem, Kde Domov Muj? David Bucek of Lodge 151, Wharton then led the Pledge of Allegiance. Supreme Lodge Vice Chairman/District Six Director Karen Kaspar of Lodge 30, Taiton offered a convention prayer followed by greetings from Supreme Lodge Chairman/District One Director Donnie Victorick of Lodge 9, Snook. Killeen Mayor Jose L. Segarra welcomed SPJST members to Killeen and issued a proclamation designating June 12 to 15 as “SPJST Days” in Killeen. A memorial acknowledgement was then presented by Supreme Lodge Vice President Clifton Coufal of Lodge 47, Seaton in memory of departed members. Credential Committee Chairman Ben Trcalek, Jr. of Lodge 17, New Tabor reported that a total of 214 delegates, representing 73 lodges and 33,385 votes were seated for the convention on Monday morning, June 13.
