The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 represents a transformative shift in the country’s education system. It aims to establish a more holistic, dynamic and multidisciplinary approach to learning. NEP 2020 emphasises the development of conceptual understanding, skills, values and competencies aligned with the demands of the 21st century, while also honouring India’s rich cultural heritage.
UOLO is fully committed to realising the vision of NEP 2020 by meticulously following its recommendations. Below is the list of icons that are spread across the books to showcase DAWN’s adherance to the values rooted in the NEP and NCF.

DAWN is an activity-based learning programme covering all areas of Early Childhood Education. It includes textbooks in English, Maths, General Awareness, STEM, Art and Craft, Phonic and Rhymes & Stories, along with lesson plans and resources to support teachers. Digital tools like animated videos, phonics songs and interactive exercises further enrich classroom learning.

The NCF 2022 and NEP 2020 stress the need to build foundational reading fluency as the curricular load continues to grow significantly in subsequent years. A deficit in early decoding and comprehension skills widens the learning gap and the backlog grows from year to year. Considering this urgent need to give young learners a strong foundation in reading, a specific intervention is required to ensure that they have a head start and are fully school-ready. This Phonic Reader is designed to introduce phonics systematically. It helps children learn the sounds of letters, understand how to blend sounds to form words, and gradually develop reading and spelling skills. This early exposure to phonics builds confidence and prepares children to become fluent readers as they progress to higher classes. The texts are designed and structured to ensure an upward progression of decoding complexity.

Step 1: Initiate a topic using the Literacy Skillbook.

Step 2: Practise the concepts using the activities in the Skillbook and additional exercises in the Workbook.
Step 3: Support the learners to decode and read the text of the same curricular theme provided in the Phonic Reader.
Step 4: Encourage learners to gradually start reading the text first with support and then independently.
Join us on this exciting journey through early reading, where this book works hand-in-hand with the Skillbook and the Workbook to create a comprehensive learning experience. Together, these books form a powerful tool for young readers, sparking confidence, curiosity, and a love of reading!
