Welcome to Bass Performance Hall. On behalf of the Performing Arts Fort Worth staff and Board of Directors, I thank you for joining us.
It gives me great pleasure to present to you the third play to ever be featured in the Broadway at the Bass Series presented by PNC Bank, Life of Pi. Based on Yann Martel’s best-selling novel that sold more than 15 million copies, this stage adaptation took what was already a worldwide phenomenon and made it into a Broadway and West End sensation. Told with jaw-dropping visuals, world-class puppetry and exquisite stagecraft, this remarkable story of faith, hope and perseverance is a theatrical event unlike anything else.
While Pi’s journey can be difficult to witness as it is ultimately one of survival, I found this show to be awe-inspiring, even leaving me breathless at times. At its core, the shared theater experience is meant to transport us into another world and perhaps see things from another perspective. Beyond its escapism, these stories make us laugh, cry and sometimes even reflect on our own values. In its rich exploration of culture and faith, Life of Pi does just that. My hope is that much like the challenge we the audience are left with by the end of this show to hold the complexities of Pi’s story, we would in turn embrace the ebbs and flows of what it means to truly be human.
Next up at the Hall, Lyle Lovett and his Large Band return as the first show in the 2025-2026 Irwin Steel Popular Entertainment Series Lineup on October 17. Then, the 2025-2026 Broadway at the Bass Season presented by PNC Bank continues with The Addams Family October 24-26, followed by A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical October 28 – November 2. Visit www.basshall.com to learn more about all the spectacular shows coming up in the 2025-2026 Season, and of course, to secure your seats for your next visit with us.
As always, thank you to all of our sponsors and donors for their generous contributions and continued support. Now, join me as we set sail on the epic adventure that is Life of Pi!
