FARTHING DERMATOLOGY PARTNERS BLEND EXPERT CARE, COMPASSION & FAMILY VALUES

At Farthing Dermatology Partners, expert care meets genuine compassion. Founded by husband-and-wife team Dr. Ben and Kristen Farthing, the practice was built on a simple belief: every patient deserves personalized, passionate care. That’s why their motto, “We care more than skin deep,” isn’t just a phrase on their website—it’s a promise that guides every appointment, every conversation and every treatment plan.

Dr. Ben Farthing, with a degree in PharmD, brings a wealth of medical knowledge and experience to the practice, blending clinical excellence with down-to-earth communication. Patients consistently remark on his ability to take time with them—listening carefully, explaining conditions in plain language and making sure every person fully understands their diagnosis and options. Together, Dr. Farthing and his patients craft treatment plans that align with both medical needs and personal preferences. It’s dermatology done with you, not to you.

In January, Dr. Farthing will be joined by his wife, Kristen Farthing, PA-C, a highly skilled and compassionate physician assistant with years of dermatology experience. Kristen trained under one of the region’s most respected dermatologists and brings a deep understanding of both medical and cosmetic dermatologic care. Known for her attentive listening, steady confidence and gentle touch, Kristen is passionate about helping patients feel at ease while achieving healthy, radiant skin. Her addition to the team not only expands the practice’s expertise but also brings the warmth and teamwork that have always defined the Farthing family.

The practice offers medical dermatology for conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis and skin cancer with personalized, long-term solutions such as surgical dermatology for precise, in-office procedures such as skin cancer removal, cyst and lipoma excisions and other minor surgeries, and cosmetic dermatology to rejuvenate and enhance natural beauty through treatments like chemical peels, fillers, Xeomin® (similar to

Botox), microneedling and laser therapy.

Faith quietly anchors Farthing

Dermatology. A meaningful Bible verse displayed in the office serves as a reminder of compassion, humility and integrity— but never as a point of pressure. Dr. Farthing’s guiding philosophy is simple: care for others as you would want to be cared for. These values shape and lead the way he practices medicine—with honesty, empathy and a commitment to doing what’s right for every patient.

The family’s love for connection extends beyond the exam room. Married for 14 years, Ben and Kristen have three young children. They are proud Butler Bulldogs and devoted Colts fans. They share a love for family game nights filled with board games, strategy challenges and laughter with their children.

When they’re not in the office, you’ll find Kristen reading, dancing, hiking or taking a Zumba class, while Ben unwinds with strategy and video games. Their one

goldfish, Rolly, rounds out their lively home.

Farthing Dermatology was designed with comfort and accessibility in mind. The office is child-friendly, with books and games in the waiting area, and fully handicap accessible on the first floor with convenient restrooms. Patients often comment on the warm, family feel—from the friendly staff to the thoughtful care that extends well beyond the appointment. The Farthings value long-term relationships, and their goal is to build trust that lasts.

Believing quality care should never be out of reach, Farthing Dermatology proudly accepts as many insurance plans as possible and offers a discounted self-pay schedule to make treatment affordable for all.

Their growing list of glowing Google reviews highlights exactly what sets them apart: Dr. Farthing’s depth of knowledge, his willingness to listen and the comfort patients feel when they leave informed, confident and cared for.

Book your appointment today with your neighborhood skin experts — because the Farthings know your skin tells a story, and they care more than skin deep.

WE’RE PROUD

Janelle Garcia

Balancing academics, athletics and community service can be one of the toughest challenges for any high school student, but for Janelle Garcia, a senior at Hamilton Southeastern High School, it’s become second nature. As a standout golfer and dedicated student, Garcia has learned that success requires focus, organization and sacrifice.

“To balance everything, I focus on time management and staying organized,” she says. “Since I miss school often for tournaments, I plan ahead and complete assignments before they’re due. My sister gifts me a planner every Christmas, and it’s been a huge help in keeping track of practices and schoolwork.”

Garcia admits that her routine often means giving up free time and missing social events, but she sees it as part of the discipline that golf and academics both require.

“It’s taught me to prioritize what matters most,” she says. “Learning how to stay disciplined has helped me both on the golf course and in the classroom.”

When reflecting on her time at Hamilton Southeastern, Garcia lights up when talking about her team.

“The most rewarding part of my athletic career has been the relationships and

memories I’ve made with my teammates,” she says. “Last year, our team placed third at state — the first time in ten years we made the podium. I also earned individual

sectional medalist my senior year and regional medalist my sophomore year. But beyond the awards, it’s the friendships and celebrations that made it all special.”

HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN HIGH SCHOOL

Behind Garcia’s success stands a strong support system of coaches and mentors. She credits her coach, Peter Salvadori, with shaping her mindset both as an athlete and a leader.

“Coach Salvadori always reminds me that being an athlete is about more than scores—it’s about character, teamwork and mindset,” Garcia says. “He’s taught me to stay positive and to lead by example through PRIDE: being Positive, Respectful, Intentional, Determined, and Enjoying the journey.”

Garcia’s leadership extends beyond the golf course. She’s also passionate about giving back to her community.

“One of my favorite experiences was helping young kids prepare for their first Jr. PGA tournament,” she says. “Seeing their excitement and confidence grow reminded me why I love the game.”

She also volunteers with the Christian Youth Organization (CYO), helping run volleyball games and concessions.

“At first, I didn’t think it was that exciting, but I realized those small jobs help everything run smoothly,” she says. “It taught me that even behind-thescenes work can make a big difference.”

As she prepares for graduation, Garcia’s next chapter is already in focus. She plans to continue her golf career at IU Indy while studying business at the Kelley School of Business.

“I’m excited to compete at the next level and grow both academically and athletically,” she adds. “My goal is to keep learning, improving and representing my school with pride.”

Janelle Garcia’s story is one of dedication, teamwork and balance — proof that with discipline and passion, success on and off the course is possible.

GOLD RIBBON COLLECTIVE

MISSION & IMPACT

The Gold Ribbon Collective, Inc. was founded by two families from the Geist area, Amy and Rob Hruskoci and Kelly, Jeremy, and Corbin Johnson, who came together with one shared purpose: to bring light, comfort and hope to children and families facing pediatric cancer. For the Hruskoci family, the mission is deeply personal, born from the loss of a beloved relative to childhood cancer. For the Johnson family, it’s a calling inspired by witnessing that strength and wanting to make a difference. Together, we turned grief and empathy into action, creating spaces filled with warmth, color, and joy. Every project is a testament to the power of community and the healing that comes from love in action.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Our connection to families begins through relationships with hospital staff, social

workers and pediatric oncology teams who introduce us to children in need of extra comfort and encouragement. From there, we meet with each family personally to learn their story: the child’s favorite colors, hobbies and dreams, so every project feels unique and deeply personal. This handson approach helps ensure we’re not just decorating a room but creating a space that restores joy and normalcy during a difficult time. Each transformation is built with love from volunteers and supporters right here in the Fishers area, showing how our local community truly rallies around its own.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

At the heart of The Gold Ribbon Collective is our room transformations — personalized spaces designed to bring joy and comfort to children undergoing cancer treatment or those in remission. Each project starts with listening: learning what

makes them smile, what colors calm them, and what themes reflect their personality. From there, our volunteers and partners work together to create something truly special: rooms filled with warmth, creativity and hope. Beyond the transformations, we also provide comfort packages and thoughtful touches for families spending long days in treatment. Every project is a reminder that beauty, compassion and community can make the journey a little brighter.

PARTNERSHIPS & SUPPORT

The Gold Ribbon Collective thrives because of the incredible people who choose to be part of our efforts: volunteers, donors and local partnerships who share our heart for families in need. Every project is a true community effort, with individuals and businesses donating time, materials and creativity to help transform each child’s space. We’ve seen carpenters, artists, designers and neighbors come together with tears in their eyes as a family walks into their new room for the first time. Those moments remind us that kindness is contagious, and that when a community like Fishers unites around a purpose, extraordinary things can happen.

AWARENESS & ADVOCACY

While our room transformations bring comfort to families directly, we also believe deeply in raising awareness for pediatric cancer and the realities families face beyond the diagnosis. Through social media, community events and other partnerships, we share stories of resilience that inspire empathy and understanding. Our goal is to shine a light on the courage of these children and the strength of their families, while encouraging others to get involved.

Advocacy for us isn’t about statistics, it’s about faces, families and the power of hope. The more people who understand, the stronger our community becomes in standing beside them.

LOOKING AHEAD

As we look to the year ahead, our goal is to complete four new room transformations and continue growing the reach and impact of The Gold Ribbon Collective. To make that possible, we’ll be focusing on fundraising and building long-term

partnerships within the local community. As a startup nonprofit, we’re seeking support from corporate sponsors, individual donors, and local businesses willing to provide in-kind materials and services.

Every contribution, big or small helps us bring light and comfort to another child and family. Together, we can make sure hope continues to shine brightly here in Fishers and beyond.

VIPS

BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR INDIANA CHILDREN WHO ARE BLIND OR HAVE LOW VISION

Imagine navigating the first steps of life without sight. For many young children in Indiana who are born blind or with low vision, simple milestones like recognizing a parent’s face, playing with toys, or exploring their surroundings can feel daunting. This is where VIPS comes in, offering hope and guidance for families navigating these challenges.

Founded in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1985, VIPS is the first and only nonprofit in Kentucky providing statewide early intervention and education services to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who are blind or have low vision.

VIPS has always served Southern Indiana, but expanded further north because of the efforts of a passionate mother of a child who was legally blind and her relationship with a dedicated teacher of blind and low-vision students. Recognizing the urgent need for better support and resources for Indiana’s youngest children with blindness or low vision, they were determined to bring the

VIPS mission further north. With the support of the VIPS Board of Directors and the Executive Director, their vision became a reality, and on August 1, 2011, VIPS began providing services in Bloomington and the surrounding areas.

Starting with just eight children, the program quickly grew, now delivering specialized early intervention services to more than 500 children in 74 of Indiana’s 92 counties. VIPS continues to be the only nonprofit to provide these services in Kentucky and Indiana.

experience once they see their children grow in ways they never thought possible is just heartwarming.”

“This is one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had,” says Sheila Klopfenstein, Indiana Education Lead and Teacher of the Visually Impaired at VIPS. “To see these kids grow and develop fills me with such hope for the lives they are going to lead. And the parents. Being a parent is and always will be stressful, but the sense of relief these parents

Most of VIPS’s work is done in the home, with the occasional outing. During a visit to the Indianapolis Zoo this summer with Sheila, Brooke shared what VIPS has meant to her and her daughter, Brynn.

“She walked through the door and we hugged each other like we’d known each other for all the days of our lives,” she says.

“It just felt like a breather for me — this lady knows her stuff, and I’m drowning. On top of other complications, the visual aspect is a world that no one talks about. Having VIPS is wonderful.”

VIPS SUPPORTS FAMILIES IN A VARIETY OF WAYS HOME VISITS AND EARLY INTERVENTION

One of the cornerstones of VIPS is its home-visit program, where trained specialists visit families in their homes to work directly with the child. VIPS teachers help families understand how vision loss affects learning and provide them with the skills and resources to encourage their child’s sensory exploration, adaptive skill development, and engagement with their environment.

PRESCHOOL AND CLASSROOM SUPPORT

In addition to in-home visits, VIPS offers a nationally recognized AER (Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the B/VI) accredited Kids Town Preschool in Louisville that supports and encourages the mission of preparing children with blindness/low vision to function as closely as possible to their same-age peers in a typical preschool environment. In Indiana, VIPS partners with the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Indianapolis who provides the opportunity for Preschool.

FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Parents often need support as they learn to navigate their child’s diagnosis. VIPS

offers resources, workshops, social events, an annual retreat and a community where families can connect with others who understand the daily challenges and triumphs of parenting a child with little to no sight. Whether it’s assisting at events, creating tactile learning materials, or helping with facility needs, VIPS welcomes volunteers to help support children and families across Kentucky and Indiana.

THE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER

After completing a successful capital and operations campaign, the Simon & Estelle Knoble VIPS Family Resource Center opened near downtown Indianapolis in 2022. VIPS children, their families, and the team have a 6,300-square-foot building designed to meet their needs, including an accessible Toddler Town, a sensory room, a Lending Library filled with braille and tactile books, lightboxes, and more, an outdoor sensory garden and playground, a Parent Hub, and expanded office space. VIPS parents and caregivers may bring their children and families to use the Family Resource Center at no cost!

“Research shows that the first five years of life are critical for brain development, and 80% of what a child learns is through their vision,” says Executive Director Diane Nelson. “For children with complex visual needs, the specialized support we provide during this time can build skills that last a lifetime.”

As a nonprofit, VIPS $4.2M budget relies

heavily on donations to continue its work because our services are not considered medical, so insurance cannot be billed. Every dollar we raise helps provide our most critical need, which is educational materials and expert staff to support these young learners. Corporate sponsors are solicited to help offset the cost of events such as the VIPS Gala, Walking for Dreams, Pickleball Classic, VIPS Golf Tournament, and the Cupcake Classic 3K, and local businesses are encouraged to consider sponsoring an event that supports VIPS’ mission and promotes their business and services.

Looking ahead, VIPS’s vision is that every child identified and in need of critical vision intervention receives services during their formative years. VIPS aims to reach more families across Kentucky and Indiana, providing accessible resources and training for parents, educators, and healthcare providers alike.

In a world that often overlooks the unique needs of children with blindness or low vision, VIPS stands as a beacon of hope, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Find out how you can help at vips.org.

FISHERS CENTURY CLUB

USING THE POWER OF NUMBERS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The Fishers Century Club (FCC) is a nonprofit organization built on a simple but powerful idea — that when individuals come together with a shared purpose, they can make a lasting difference in their community. Founded in 2019 by a local Fishers resident, the club was designed to unite men in the community who wanted to give back in a meaningful, collective way. What began as a small idea among friends has grown into a respected philanthropic group that continues to strengthen the Fishers area through generosity and connection.

Although the organization was originally slated to launch in 2020, the COVID-19

pandemic delayed its debut. However, that setback only strengthened the determination of its founders and early members. When the Fishers Century Club officially hosted its first event on June 17, 2021, it marked the beginning of a movement — one centered around the concept of community giving made simple, direct and impactful.

The goal of the Fishers Century Club is straightforward — a group of guys getting together to give, using the power of numbers to make a larger impact. Each member contributes financially, but more importantly, they contribute their passion for helping others and strengthening the

local network of nonprofit organizations that serve Fishers residents every day.

Since that first gathering, the Fishers Century Club has made an incredible impact. The organization proudly celebrates surpassing the $50,000 milestone in total giving, all of which has gone directly to local charitable organizations. Every donation made is carefully directed toward nonprofits that address community needs — from supporting families in crisis and promoting youth programs, to aiding food pantries, education initiatives, and mental health services.

What makes the Fishers Century Club unique is its grassroots approach to philanthropy. There are no complicated processes or large administrative structures — just a group of dedicated men who meet, learn about local causes and decide together where their pooled contributions can make the greatest difference. The result is immediate, transparent impact that directly

benefits organizations doing the hard work of improving lives in and around Fishers.

Beyond the donations, the club fosters a sense of brotherhood and community spirit. Members form friendships, share ideas and collectively celebrate the success of the nonprofits they support. The camaraderie within the group is a vital part of its success, reinforcing the belief that giving is most rewarding when done together.

Looking forward, the Fishers Century Club aims to continue growing its membership and reach, ensuring that even more local nonprofits can benefit from their generosity. The organization stands as a shining example of how one simple idea — when backed by community, commitment and compassion — can create ripples of positive change throughout an entire city.

The Fishers Century Club continues to prove that when people come together to give, great things happen.

Confident in Style

LILAC BLONDE BOUTIQUE EMPOWERS WOMEN THROUGH FASHION

At first glance, Lilac Blonde, located in Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville, feels like a dream closet come to life — shelves lined with statement sneakers, racks of effortlessly chic clothing, and a vibe that radiates confidence. But behind the carefully curated displays and stylish atmosphere is Abby Vitale, a passionate entrepreneur with a bold mission: to create a space where women can express themselves through fashion that’s as comfortable as it is empowering.

Abby and her father founded Lilac Blonde out of a shared realization — the sneaker world had long overlooked women.

“We saw a huge gap in the sneaker industry,” Abby says. “Women deserved their own space. We were tired of seeing women’s styles treated like an afterthought, so we built a place where style, comfort and confidence come together.”

That idea became the foundation for Lilac Blonde — a boutique that merges streetwear, sneakers and lifestyle pieces to offer a

complete look.

“We wanted to create something more than just a store,” she says. “It’s a destination for women to find their full look — not just one piece.”

Carrying powerhouse brands such as adidas, Nike, Jordan, On Running, HOKA, UGG, Boys Lie, Free People Movement and Juicy Couture, Lilac Blonde offers a curated selection not found in big-box retailers. Yet Abby’s mission extends beyond fashion — 5% of the boutique’s profits are donated to breast cancer awareness in honor of her aunt, a cause that remains deeply personal.

“It’s important to us that our business also gives back,” Abby adds. “We want to help women feel seen, strong and supported in every way possible.”

A CURATED, CONFIDENT AESTHETIC

Ask Abby how she would describe the Lilac Blonde style, and her

answer comes without hesitation: “Curated, cool-girl confidence.” The boutique’s aesthetic combines statement pieces that stand out with everyday essentials designed for comfort and versatility.

“We love blending fashion and function,” she says. “Our lineup — from adidas and On Running to UGG and Jordan — sets us apart from other boutiques. You’ll find pieces here that you won’t see everywhere else.”

Each item in the store is handpicked by Abby, ensuring that every collection reflects Lilac Blonde’s balance of edge, ease and authenticity. From exclusive sneaker drops to cozy sweats and elevated basics, the boutique encourages women to build outfits that feel uniquely their own.

“Fashion should make you feel good — not overwhelmed,” Abby says. “Our goal is to help women find pieces that fit their lives and their personalities.”

EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH FASHION

For Abby, Lilac Blonde is more than a business — it’s a platform to inspire confidence and individuality.

“We created Lilac Blonde to give women a space where they can feel confident, stylish and totally themselves,” she says. “Whether she’s bold, laid-back or somewhere in between, we want every woman to walk in and find something that reflects who she is.”

From sneakers to streetwear, the boutique’s selections merge fashion with comfort, proving that women don’t have to sacrifice one for the other.

“Our mission has always been about more than clothes,” Abby adds. “It’s about helping women feel good in what they wear every single day.”

A STRONG COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Lilac Blonde’s success is deeply tied to the Fishers, Geist and Noblesville communities that have embraced the boutique from day one.

“Growing Lilac Blonde here has been such a rewarding experience,” Abby says. “We’ve loved getting to know our customers, hearing their stories and seeing familiar faces become friends.”

The boutique’s commitment to community goes beyond its store walls. Lilac Blonde regularly supports local causes by donating gift baskets, fulfilling teacher wish lists and participating in community events.

“It’s about giving back to the same people who support us,” Abby says proudly. “There’s something really special about growing alongside the people who shop with us and cheer us on.”

LOOKING AHEAD: STYLE, SNEAKERS AND THE SEASON AHEAD

As the holiday season approaches, Abby is especially excited about new arrivals and upcoming trends.

“This is our first year carrying Boys Lie, Juicy Couture, Free People Movement and Happy Camp3r,” she shares. “Plus, we have amazing new sneaker drops from adidas, Nike, Jordan, On Running, HOKA and UGG.”

This season, Abby predicts plenty of bold prints and pops of color.

“Cherry red is going to be huge — it’s festive, fun and looks great on everyone,” she says. “Expect playful patterns, cozy sweats and statement sneakers that make every outfit pop.”

For Abby Vitale, Lilac Blonde is far more than a boutique — it’s a reflection of her belief that fashion should empower, uplift and connect.

“In the end, it’s not just about what you wear,” she says. “It’s about how it makes you feel. If a woman leaves Lilac Blonde feeling even a little more confident, then we’ve done our job.”

Lilac Blonde is located in Hamilton Town Center. You can follow the shop on Instagram at @lilacblondeboutique or shop. Online at lilacblonde.com.

When Julie visits Joann at Hamilton Trace, she sees a joyful difference.
“She’s engaged and smiling,” Julie said. “
Most of the time she’s right in the middle of an activity.”

For JoAnn Anderson and her family, the road to CarDon & Associates’ Hamilton Trace community was long but worth the distance. Two and a half years ago, JoAnn was admitted to a skilled nursing community in New York state, where she and her husband lived for most of their lives. But several factors drew them toward moving to Indiana, especially the fact that their daughters live in the Midwest.

JoAnn’s daughter, Julie, started searching for senior living options near her home in Fishers, Indiana, and Hamilton Trace stood out as soon as she walked through its doors.

“It was always neat and tidy, and people seemed to be so happy there,” Julie said. “I knew that’s where I wanted to bring her.”

From its cleanliness and family-friendly atmosphere to its options for dining, activities and memory care, Hamilton Trace felt like the right choice. While waiting for a room to become available, Julie received helpful information regarding insurance and a rave review of CarDon as a place to work from the admissions staff at Harbour Manor in Noblesville.

Today, JoAnn calls Hamilton Trace home, where she receives long term care and is surrounded by a community that includes rehabilitation, assisted living and memory support.

Julie often finds Joann in the activities area, playing bingo or listening to local music groups perform classic songs.

“It doesn’t matter what the activity is,” Julie said. “My mom will go down there just because she loves to be around people. If she can be with people and talk to them, that’s all she needs.”

JoAnn’s husband (Julie’s father) visits daily, and the grandkids and great grandkids visit frequently as well.

Their family’s story is a shining example of CarDon’s ability to help families near and far find the right place for their loved ones. Six months ago, JoAnn and her family were struggling with her surroundings across the country. Now, they’re
