CLUBS, ORGANIZATIONS & GREEK LIFE

CLUBS

ASIAN

AMERICAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION (AASA)

seeks to spread cultural awareness and educate others on Asian-American customs and create a community of Asian-Americans, in addition to those interested in learning more about the culture.

BLACK STUDENT ASSOCIATION (BSA) is committed to meeting the evolving needs of multicultural students by enriching the quality of their college experience. BSA seeks to serve as an inclusive organization to promote awareness and foster student development through academics, diversity, and community.

COMMUTER & TRANSFER ASSISTANTS (CTA)

promotes community within the commuter and transfer population, encourage commuter participation in student development programs, and help commuters feel more connected to the campus.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PRE-LAW SOCIETY meets the needs of those students interested in studying law and who plan to continue on to professional legal studies. It strives to prepare students for a professional legal career, but is open to all students.

DARA CLUB

promotes the art of digital audio recording and music with regular meetings, group outing events, group parties, discussions about the industry and recording process, and to share the love of music with as many people at the school as possible.

DEAD POETS SOCIETY

is a book club that works to enjoy literary works together.

THE ENCOUNTER

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES (FCA)

publishes a monthly news-magazine to provide the university community with news, special feature stories, sports, and entertainment. All students are welcome to participate and write about what interests them on campus and in the community. presents to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. FCA provides students and athletes the opportunity to discuss their faith and how they intend to uphold their Christian values in college.

F.R.E.E.

creates opportunities to learn about personal finances through research and experiential learning activities. They engage the community by visiting area schools to teach kids how to handle their finances responsibly and attend forums on global economics and market structure.

GENDER SEXUALITY ALLIANCE (GSA)

is an organization supported by the Office of Institutional Diversity to provide a safe place for students to support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation, and work to end homophobia.

THE GLOBAL CULTURE CLUB (GCC)

is a club that celebrates and appreciates exploring all cultures whether international or domestic.

INTERNATIONAL CLUB

facilitates cross-cultural understanding and exchange among international students and the student body at-large through experiential activities and events. They also work to make international students feel welcome and comfortable at USF.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF USF

cultivates an atmosphere that allows fans of superheroes, comic books, science fiction, fantasy, anime, video games, and other forms of entertainment (TV shows/movies, conventions, cosplay) to produce discussions and relationships.

LATE NIGHT PROGRAMMING

is focused on programming nighttime and weekend events for students. The group is made up of students who are around on the weekends and enjoy bringing people together to have fun.

MIGHTY MINDS

is a group focused on supporting mental health of all students through programming and support.

RADIO CLUB

offers students interested in broadcasting to learn and work at an operating noncommercial radio station (WCSF 88.7 FM). Radio Club offers students the opportunity to run a music, news, or talk show and engage in programming and promotional activities for WCSF.

RECREATION CLUB

enhances recreational and educational opportunities in order for each individual to become aware of personal growth through leisure.

RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATION promotes campus engagement and cultural diversity while providing social, educational, and recreational programming for residents. RHA is a student-run governing body aimed at allowing those who live in the residence halls the chance to speak for changes they would like to see.

SAINTS IN ACTION (SIA)

is a ministry-focused club for students who enjoying doing service, helping others, and building friendships.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH CLUB creates a community that shares the same interests regarding scientific research and uses that interest to engage in civil discussion and inquiries about different scientific journals.

S.C.A.L.E.S. ACCOUNTING CLUB prepares students for their future careers in accounting through professional development workshops and community outreach projects.

SOCIAL WORK CLUB promotes professionalism and hosts educational programs and seminars to increase awareness of the Social Work field. Students organize and participate in at least two community projects each academic year, volunteer in numerous community service projects, and host fundraisers to help support local organizations.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES BOARD (SAB) plans and implements major student entertainment programming on campus. This includes dances, large social events, off-campus travel, contracted performers, and other special events.

STUDENT BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

(SBA) provides opportunities for students to gain insight on the business world through workshops, corporate visits, and networking events. Workshops may nclude resume building, mock interviews, personalized business cards, and a "Dress for Success" dinner.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

(SGA)

strives to bring the voice of all students to administrators, faculty, staff and trustees to create cohesion and address issues pertaining to student life on campus. The success and effectiveness of the SGA relies on students actively participating in the Senate and on committees.

STUDENT NURSES ASSOCIATION

(SNA) contributes to the personal and professional growth of nursing students through social and educational activities. SNA provides leadership opportunities and stimulates interest in professional nursing organizations while hosting several community projects each semester.

USF HISTORY CLUB

educates the student body about history in a fun and exciting manner.

USF TV CLUB

offers students interested in the broadcasting field the opportunity to learn and work at an fully-functional television station. Any USF student can join and utilize their creativity to perform in front of the camera, shoot video, edit footage, and produce video packages and shows.

UNIDOS VAMOS A ALCANZAR (UNITED

WE WILL ACHEIVE) (UVA) preserves and advances LatinAmerican culture and serves as a support network for students of Latino descent at USF. UVA focuses on the strength and resiliency of our Latino students to promote leadership, civic involvement, and academic excellence in a welcoming atmosphere.

ORGANIZATIONS

MUSIC ENSEMBLES

currently include the Band of Saints pep band, Claritas Master Chorale, DARA OS electronic ensemble and the Joliet Symphony Orchestra.

SAINTS AMBASSADOR CORPS

assists the Admissions Office with recruiting new students and showcasing great things about USF. Ambassadors are trained to give tours, phone prospective students, and host overnight guests. Students are interviewed and selected by the Admissions Office to participate.

STUDENT ALUMNI MENTORING (SAM)

was established in 2012 to bring students and alumni together to help pave the way for students to succeed at USF and beyond. Students are partnered with an alum whose education and career closely matches the student’s, to gain direction and potential career goals and connections. This program is sponsored by the Advancement Office and Career Success Center.

UNIVERSITY MINISTRY

offers students the opportunity to carry out their calling to serve others through peer ministry; special events and religious celebrations; local, national and international service experiences and more. Currently, in collaboration with the Rec Club, students have the opportunity to travel to Utah for a service trip that focuses on assisting physically challenged students and veterans while also enjoying skiing and snowboarding.

ALPHA PHI

This women’s fraternity invites outstanding women who support one another in lifelong achievement. It enhances and promotes each member’s development and learning by focusing on sisterhood, service, scholarship, leadership, loyalty and character development. Sisters share a commitment to excellence and strong desire to help one another and their communities.

ALPHA PSI LAMBDA

Alpha Psi Lambda is the nation’s firsthand largest co-ed Latino fraternity, though it welcomes students from all backgrounds and cultures including Latin American, Caribbean, European, and Asian. Alpha Psi Lambda stands as one family united. Their strength lies in the ability to focus on our culture while appreciating the diversity of others.
