What's On November-December 2025

WHAT’S ON

Welcome

Libraries play an important role in fostering creativity. Stories spark the imagination, while cookbooks brighten our menus, and biographies inspire us through lives well lived. Our programming brings joy and opens eyes, revealing new horizons and possibilities for all ages. We have long strived to support local authors and nurture the development of the literary community in Vaughan, alongside developing literacy in our youngest customers and a joy in reading that will last a lifetime. It is therefore a great pleasure to announce that Vaughan Public Libraries is looking for our very first Writer-in-Residence.

Until December 1, we are accepting applications for this new position, which will run for eight weeks in early Summer 2026. This role supports our aim of nurturing local writers through workshops, one-on-one consultations, and mentorships, and it will build on Vaughan’s already strong literary foundations. The successful candidate will connect with readers, writing communities, and the general public through educational sessions, interactive programs and outreach activities. Over these two months, the Writer-in-Residence will also have the time, space, and resources to develop their own work portfolio. We know that this position has the potential to strengthen Vaughan’s love of all things literary, while helping local authors in their craft, and spurring a love of writing and creativity in all ages.

If you are interested in applying for this position, or know a writer who would be a great fit, please visit www.vaughanpl.info/jobs for more information. Stay tuned to What’s On and our eNewsletter for more news about this exciting initiative and what you can expect in 2026!
