JOTI for Cubs Internet Safety
Here are some activities for Cub Scouts to explore JOTI

Help Cubs have a basic understanding of internet safety. Help them to understand what is safe and unsafe to share online, why it is necessary to have a strong password and how to spot dangers while online and who to tell it to
Start with a game (Safe and unsafe information to share online)
Label corners of the room: Tell an adult, Block, Share, Keep Private. Read scenarios and the Cubs run to the action they would take. Discuss the choices.
Split into sixes and have 3 bases
1st
base: passwords
In pairs, Cubs build funny and strong passwords using word, number, and symbol cards. Compare funny but safe examples. Teach: passwords should be long, unusual, and secret.
2nd
base: What to do
In pairs, Cubs act out online situations. Get the others to say if it is safe or unsafe and why. Examples: A friend asks to play a game. A stranger asks where you live. Someone sends you a rude message After each one discuss what a safe response would be
3rd base: Design a poster
Cubs make posters with their “Top 3 Tips for Staying Safe Online.” Have sheets with some information on online safety and get them to use what they learnt from the meeting Share with their sixes

Our Chief Scout studied electronic engineering and has always been fascinated by radios and computers. He knows how exciting it can be to talk to people all over the world, learn about different places, and share your story. That’s why he is delighted to support Cub Scouts to take part in Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) and learn how the internet connects people everywhere.
