From the Editor

This issue is All About Women — celebrating the strength, resilience, and incredible accomplishments of remarkable women. We are thrilled to GO PINK in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and excited to include our Women of Excellence (WE) segment. WE shines a light on women who are making a difference in the community and in their respective fields.

In Survivor Stories, we are honored to share the journeys of six courageous women who have faced breast cancer with grace and determination. Their experiences serve as powerful reminders of hope and underscore the importance of lifting one another up through life’s challenges.

We also highlight additional women who are creating meaningful impact throughout our community in our features.

This issue is packed with exciting events from across the Eastern Shore, South Baldwin, and Mobile — many of them organized by and focused on empowered women. We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as the Social Magazine team enjoyed bringing it to life. We are humbled by your continued support and grateful for the opportunity to share the stories of these inspiring local individuals and organizations.

Trust Your Face to a Facial Plastic Surgeon

Thomas H.M. Moulthrop, M.D., FACS

His mission is clear: to improve lives through aesthetic enhancement that looks and feels entirely natural. The best cosmetic surgery doesn’t draw attention—it enhances confidence without ever appearing “overdone.”

Dr. Moulthrop offers a comprehensive range of surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments, backed by years of hands-on experience and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

COMMUNITY leader

Restoring Hope and Healing Arcelia Miller

Since becoming Executive Director of Under His Wings in 2019, Arcelia Miller has guided the ministry with a vision rooted in compassion, faith, and strong leadership. Under her direction, the organization has expanded its mission of supporting young women across Baldwin County by addressing trauma, nurturing resilience, and empowering families.

Miller’s background is both diverse and impressive. A former U.S. Air Force commissioned officer, she went on to become a consultant, leadership coach, and homeschool mom while serving at Under His Wings. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from George Washington University and a Master’s in Quality Systems Management. She is also certified as a Biblical Counselor and trained as a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner.

Her leadership is deeply personal and faith-driven. “I am inspired by a deep conviction and calling from God to steward the leadership gifts and experiences He has entrusted to me (Ephesians 2:8–10),” she shares. “The greatest impact Under His Wings is offering young women and families is a living and eternal hope found only in Jesus Christ. We do this not only by sharing the Gospel, but also by living it out daily before them.”

Under Miller’s leadership, the ministry has strengthened and broadened its programs. Courage Home provides residential care for teen girls ages 13 to 18, offering caregivers, personalized education, and a safe environment that encourages healing and growth.

G.L.E.A.N. (Grit, Leadership, Excellence, Anchored, Noble) serves girls ages 11 to 23 with counseling, coaching, life skills, and leadership development. Looking ahead, she is especially excited about Perseverance Place, a transitional housing program for women ages 19–23. “In Alabama, adulthood is not legally recognized until age 19, and without a strong support network during those crucial years, young women are at high risk for adverse circumstances. Our vision is to provide not only a safe haven and essential life skills, but also to foster resilience empowering young women to rise above their past and step boldly into their God-given purpose.”

Faith is the foundation of her leadership. “I have personally experienced the healing and redemptive power of restored relationships beginning with God through Jesus Christ,” she says. “It is from that gift of faith and in God’s strength alone that I am able to serve the girls and families with patience and compassion. Lasting healing comes only from Him.”

For Miller, this calling is one her whole family has embraced. “Before I accepted this position, my husband and I prayed together, sought counsel from our pastor, and shared with our children the call we believed God was placing on our family. Sacrifice is never easy, but my family has shared in both the joys and the sufferings of Christ by embracing the truth that our lives are not our own. To us, being part of Under His Wings is not something we do for God, it is something He accomplishes in and through us, for His purposes and His glory.”

Fall is an excellent time to buy or sell a house as the changing season mirrors the changes you’re about to make in your life. The bustle of competition in the spring and summer months tends to lessen in the Fall real estate market, allowing sellers to stand out and buyers to negotiate more favorably. The pleasant weather and visually appealing autumn scenery make property showings more enjoyable, while motivated buyers and sellers often lead to quicker and smoother transactions.

Elected District Attorney of Blount County in 2010 at just 29 years old, Pamela Casey became Alabama’s youngest female district attorney. Before her election, she served as Assistant and Deputy Attorney General in the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.

Casey has personally prosecuted 97% of felony trials in Blount County since taking office. Known for her relentless pursuit of justice, her average sentence in murder cases is 47 years—a testament to her commitment to keeping Alabama communities safe.

In 2025, Casey was named Alabama’s District Attorney of the Year at the Alabama District Attorney’s Association Summer Conference,

CASEY

honoring her exceptional commitment to justice, public safety, and protecting the state’s most vulnerable citizens.

Throughout her career, Pamela Casey has been a fierce protector of Alabama’s children. She has prosecuted some of the state’s most disturbing crimes against minors, securing hundreds of years in prison sentences for child predators. Beyond the courtroom, Casey has trained law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and educators nationwide on online child safety and the dangers of social media, furthering her lifelong mission to protect the most vulnerable. A proud wife and mother of two, she brings the same passion for protecting families to her work as she does to her own home.

CASEY Pamela

Trailblazing Prosecutor & Advocate for Justice District Attorney, Blount County, Alabama Republican Candidate for Attorney General, 2026

How will your courtroom experience shape your work as Attorney General?

My years in the courtroom have shaped me to be a fighter, a problemsolver, and someone who doesn’t flinch when the stakes are high. I’ve spent countless hours in front of judges and juries, making tough calls to protect victims and keep dangerous offenders off our streets. That hands-on experience means I understand how laws actually work in real life — not just on paper. As Attorney General, I’ll bring that same focus and grit to the job. I’ll be ready on day one to tackle violent crime, hold criminals accountable, and stand up for Alabama families. My courtroom experience isn’t just part of my résumé — it’s the foundation for how I’ll lead.

What key challenges will Alabama face in the next four years, and how would you address them as Attorney General?

Alabama faces rising violent crime, repeat offenders on low bonds, and growing threats to children from trafficking, online predators, and fentanyl. I’ll strengthen sentencing laws, support law enforcement, and ensure violent criminals stay behind bars. Protecting children will be a top priority, with tougher penalties and modern strategies to combat exploitation. And I’ll always defend Alabama’s sovereignty and constitutional rights from federal overreach.

What advice do you have for young women pursuing careers in law or public service?

Don’t wait for permission—have the courage to step forward, even when others say you’re too young or ambitious. If I had listened to those

voices, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Stay true to your values and never compromise your convictions to fit in. And above all, outwork everyone—when others underestimate you, let your performance be your answer.

What’s your promise to the people of Alabama?

My promise to the people of Alabama is simple: I will fight for you. And as Attorney General, I’ll never forget who I serve. This is your state. Your families. Your future. My decisions will be guided by one question: What keeps Alabama families safe and free?

While working on power restoration after Hurricane Helene in September 2024, Cathy postponed a routine mammogram— an innocent delay that would soon prove life-changing. Further testing revealed a breast cancer diagnosis in November 2024. She chose to receive treatment at UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center in Birmingham, where her care included surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Today, she remains positive and focused on recovery, grateful for the strength found through faith, family, and her Southern Company/ Alabama Power work family.

Her advice for other women facing a diagnosis is to stay hopeful and informed. “Find a medical team and treatment plan that feel right for you and your family,” she says. “Genetic testing

BALDWINShannon

Shannon was diagnosed with Stage III HER2-positive breast cancer in April 2015, just five months after a clear mammogram. A busy mom of four young children, she trusted her instincts when something felt off. Even after two negative BRCA genetic tests, the uneasy feeling persisted. One morning, while out for a run, she suddenly fell and later felt a sharp pain in her right breast as she stretched. Concerned, she discovered a small, hard lump and immediately called her doctor. An ultrasound and a series of tests confirmed her fears.

An aggressive regimen of chemotherapy eventually led to the words she longed to hear: “No evidence of disease.” Though the journey was difficult, Shannon calls it a gift—one that gave her a renewed perspective and a deep

appreciation for life. She urges women to listen to their bodies and to advocate for themselves, even when initial results appear normal.

Shannon’s advice for those newly diagnosed is to lean on faith, family, and friends, stay active, and focus on healing. She often ran or did hot yoga after treatments to maintain strength and peace.

Today, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation and its Masquerade Ball Committee, helping to uplift others on their cancer journeys. She remains deeply grateful to Dr. Michael Meshad, the Southern Cancer Center team, her sister Francie, and friends Jerry and Loretta Huett for their prayers and support.

can also provide valuable peace of mind. Choose what fits your lifestyle and gives you confidence moving forward.”

Beyond treatment, she remains deeply involved in her community, giving back through Angel Tree, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and a local Mardi Gras Krewe. She says these connections have played a vital role in her healing process, offering perspective and purpose.

Her greatest strength, however, comes from the love that surrounds her— especially from her granddaughters, ages eight and ten, who reminded her with childlike wisdom, “Mimi, your hair will fall out, but it will grow back.” Their words continue to inspire her resilience and remind her that hope, like hair, always returns.

ATKINS Shelly

Shelly Atkins’ journey with breast cancer began in 2009, when she was first diagnosed and underwent a lumpectomy and partial mastectomy, followed by six weeks of radiation. Fifteen years later, in 2024, she faced the disease again—this time requiring a bilateral mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction. The first stage of her surgery is complete, and she remains positive as she prepares for the next.

Through both battles, Shelly’s outlook has been defined by resilience, faith, and gratitude. She advises other women to find doctors they completely trust and to never hesitate to ask questions. “Understanding your treatment plan, eating healthy, getting plenty of rest, and staying positive make all the difference,” she shares.

Kathryn

WARD

Kathryn was diagnosed with triplenegative breast cancer in January 2022, a shocking discovery given her lack of family history. Genetic testing revealed she carried the PALB2 gene, one of the breast cancer–linked mutations. Armed with that knowledge, she pursued an aggressive treatment plan of chemotherapy and surgery at the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery in New Orleans.

“Learning that I had the gene changed everything,” she says. “It helped me make informed choices about my treatment. I wanted to do everything I could to move forward with confidence.”

That confidence—and her faith—became her anchors. Kathryn credits her strength to her spirituality, her family and friends,

and the support of her work family at M&F Casuals. “My faith carried me through,” she says. “I was surrounded by love and encouragement every step of the way.”

She is deeply grateful for her care team, especially Dr. Daniel Cameron, Dr. Rachel Hunter, and the staff at the Mitchell Cancer Institute, who provided exceptional, compassionate care close to home.

Now in remission, Kathryn shares hope with others facing breast cancer. Her advice: “Listen to your doctors, but also do your own research from trusted sources. And don’t underestimate the power of connecting with other survivors.”

Active in online breast cancer communities, Kathryn finds strength in supporting others. Her journey is a testament to faith, gratitude, and resilience—a reminder that hope shines brightest after the storm.

involvement with Camp Bluebird, where she supports other survivors and loves seeing others “smile and feel loved.” Her strength, she says, comes from her faith, her husband, family, friends, and co-workers—her unwavering support team.

A proud member of the Providence Hospital surgery department, Shelly connects deeply with patients through her own experience. Each October, she brings pink gifts to those fighting breast cancer, a small gesture that carries a big message of hope.

Shelly is grateful for her exceptional care team—Dr. Mark W. Stalder of Stalder Plastic Surgery, Drs. Michael Meshad and Lindsey Beakley and the entire Southern Cancer Center staff—whom she affectionately calls her “A-Team.”

A Century of Women Making a Difference

A LEGACY OF SERVICE

JLM has played a pivotal role in founding and supporting organizations that continue to serve the Mobile and Baldwin County communities. These are just a few legacy projects:

United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile – Providing therapy and services for individuals with disabilities.

Mobile Public Library’s Bookmobile Program – Ensuring book access for underserved communities.

Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center –Advancing hands-on science education.

The Child Advocacy Center – Supporting victims of child abuse.

The Drug Education Council – Promoting substance abuse prevention.

Mobile Arts Council – Founded as a project of the Junior League of Mobile in 1955.

The Junior League of Mobile (JLM) has been shaping the community since 1925, fostering leadership, voluntarism, and meaningful change. Originally founded as the Mobile Charity League by civic leader Miss Mary Tilney, JLM joined the Association of Junior Leagues International in 1931, amplifying its reach and impact.

MISSION AND KEY PROGRAMS

JLM is committed to advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. With a focus on Women & Children: Health and Well-Being, the organization advances its mission through key initiatives that address critical needs in these areas, including:

Adopt-A-School Program – Providing food, clothing, hygiene products, and school supplies to students in need.

Diaper Bank – The Junior League of Mobile distributes diapers to families in need through partner agencies and community drive-thru events. As the only National Diaper Bank Network affiliate in Mobile, JLM provides vital support to local families, distributing tens of thousands of diapers each year.

MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS

One of JLM’s most impactful initiatives, the Adopt-A-School program, launched in 2020 at George Hall Elementary during the COVID-19 pandemic. As families struggled with remote learning, JLM provided Kindle Fire tablets to every family, ensuring students could continue their education. Beyond technology, JLM raised over $130,000, distributed 10,000+ diapers, and supplied essential school necessities, creating a strong foundation for continued support.

ANNUAL EVENTS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

JLM thrives on community involvement, and locals can support its mission by volunteering, donating, or attending key events. One of the most anticipated is the Christmas Jubilee, a beloved holiday market that celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024. This event not only unites the community but also serves as a major fundraiser, supporting JLM’s outreach efforts. Another signature event, Real Talk for Women, provides educational resources and expert panels on women’s health, reinforcing JLM’s commitment to community well-being.

A FUTURE OF SERVICE

As JLM looks ahead, it remains committed to expanding programs, fostering partnerships, and training women leaders. By continuing to address pressing community issues, JLM ensures that its legacy of service and impact will endure for generations to come.

For those looking to make a difference, JLM offers a meaningful way to give back, lead, and create lasting change. To learn more or get involved, visit juniorleaguemobile.org

Together, they founded the BCH Classic Golf Tournament, benefiting the Children’s Aid Society of Alabama’s APAC program—the same program that made their adoption of their son Brian possible. Thanks to the Alabama Pre/Post Connections (APAC) program—a collaboration between the Children’s Aid Society and the Alabama Department of Human Resources—our calling to adopt a child was fulfilled.” Steve, who was serving as General Manager at Rock Creek Golf Club at the time, knew that a fundraising golf tournament would be the perfect way to help other families learn about CAS and adoption opportunities. “Golfers love to play any chance they have,” he shared, “so when given the opportunity to play for a great cause, it's even better."

Adopting our son, Brian Charles Harris, was a dream come true.

Kandis

WRIGHT

In April 2023, Kandis received the news no woman wants to hear—triple-negative breast cancer. What followed was a season of strength, faith, and courage. From May through November, she underwent chemotherapy, followed by a lumpectomy in December and four weeks of radiation after recovery.

“It was a tough journey,” she recalls, “but with a lot of prayers and knowing God is in control, I got through it.”

Her unwavering faith became her anchor through every challenge, and today, nearly two years later, she celebrates remission with gratitude. The experience reshaped her outlook on life and health. She encourages other women facing a diagnosis to take care of themselves— eat clean, limit sugar, drink plenty of

water, stay active, and above all, maintain a positive attitude. “Never give up,” she says. “You can do hard things when you keep faith at the center.”

Throughout her battle, she leaned on her husband, children, and mother, as well as her church family, coworkers, and friends. Their love and prayers lifted her through the hardest days. She also credits the compassionate Infirmary Cancer Center team for providing excellent care and encouragement that helped her persevere.

Now, she stands as a grateful survivor and a testament to faith and perseverance—proof that even in life’s darkest storms, hope shines brightest for those who believe.

ROWANRobin

Robin says, “The trick to beating breast cancer is to catch it early.”

For Robin, it started during quiet moments with the Lord—small signs that something wasn’t right. She noticed a faint ache, slight swelling, and moisture in her bra. Trusting her instincts, she asked her doctor for a mammogram. When he dismissed her concerns twice, she stood firm and demanded one. That decision saved her life.

The mammogram revealed an 8mm HER2+ invasive ductal carcinoma, caught early enough for a lumpectomy. Robin emphasizes that many women have dense breast tissue, which can make small tumors hard to feel. “Even the slightest changes—pain, swelling, discharge—can be the Lord’s way of saying something’s wrong.”

She credits her care team at USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute for thoughtful, personalized treatment and warns women not to be pressured into unnecessary procedures. “You have to be bold. Not all hospitals or doctors get it right. Find a specialist who listens.”

Robin also explored alternative therapies like Vitamin C infusions and high-alkaline water while remaining prayerful and grounded in faith.

Today, she is cancer-free and grateful. Her message to women: “Listen to your body. Pay attention to the smallest things. Speak up until someone listens. Catch it early—and trust that God will walk with you through it.”

LORENA GREGORIUS

Associate Broker, REALTOR ®, GRI Roberts Brothers Eastern Shore

Lorena Gregorius is not just a real estate professional. She’s an icon. Proudly serving her clients for over 53 years, Lorena’s extensive experience, leadership, and mentorship have earned her a stellar reputation as one of the most respected names in real estate on the Gulf Coast. Licensed since 1972, Lorena has been a top producer with Roberts Brothers for nearly 30 years. She has seen it all, watched it evolve, and loves what she does.

She and her high school sweetheart, Richard, are celebrating their 59th year of marriage this year.

What led you to this career?

I was working at a real estate company in Fairhope when the broker encouraged me to get licensed—he even paid for my classes! I’m so thankful he did, as it led me to a rewarding career that gave me the freedom to be myself and introduced me to wonderful people who became lifelong friends.

What woman in your life were you most inspired by? There have been many, but most of all my mother. Through no choice of her own, she became a single parent with no job and no help, only faith that God would guide her. She was never angry or self-pitying, held her head high, and moved forward with grace.

What advice would you give other women aspiring to be a leader in the real estate industry? Get involved in the Board of REALTORS®, serve on the committees, and volunteer for positions on the board. The things you will learn about working with fellow REALTORS ® will prepare you to work with the consumer and create the confidence you need.

What’s your favorite quote?

“When in doubt, DO something!” My other favorite came from my mother: “Your rights end where someone else’s begin.”

Dr. Katelin Holmes

When it comes to advancing breast cancer care on the Gulf Coast, Katelin Holmes, DO, FACS, FACOS, is setting a remarkable standard. A board-certified and fellowshiptrained breast surgical oncologist, Holmes brings world-class expertise to her patients at Infirmary Health in Fairhope while also serving as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Her calling to surgery began at a young age, nurtured by experiences working for a hometown general surgeon. A pivotal moment came during residency when a breast cancer patient confirmed her purpose, telling her, “You are meant to be a breast surgeon.” From that point, Holmes devoted herself fully to the specialty.

Holmes' path to medicine began at the University of Pikeville’s Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by intensive surgical training in Texas and Houston. She went on to complete a prestigious fellowship in breast surgical oncology at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Today, she specializes in both benign and malignant breast disease, offering procedures such as breast-conserving surgery, nipple-sparing and skin-sparing mastectomy, and oncoplastic breast surgery.

Her passion for innovation is evident. In 2025, Holmes performed the first laparoscopic nipple-sparing mastectomy in the United States, a groundbreaking minimally invasive approach that preserves the nipple, reduces pain, and speeds recovery. She was also one of just five U.S. physicians selected for this advanced training in Amsterdam, underscoring her commitment to bringing global innovations back to the Gulf Coast.

Education is central to her practice. She emphasizes that mammograms remain the most effective tool for detecting breast cancer early, reducing mortality by 40 percent. She also urges women with a family history of cancer or dense breast tissue to discuss genetic testing and supplemental imaging with their physicians.

Holmes is equally committed to mentoring future surgeons, especially young women considering male-dominated fields. She encourages them to pursue the “fire within” while providing guidance along the way.

Her goal is to ensure women along the Gulf Coast never have to travel far for world-class cancer care. “You deserve a doctor who will listen, advocate for you, and treat you as a whole person,” she said. “Even in the scariest cases, there is always hope, and it is my honor to walk that journey with my patients.”

Recognized for her leadership, compassion, and surgical skill, Holmes is more than a physician — she is an advocate for her patients and an inspiration in the fight against breast cancer.

CHRISTINA WOERNER Mc INNIS

Christina Woerner McInnis, seeking to become Alabama’s first woman Commissioner of Agriculture & Industries, brings a rare 360° understanding of Alabama agriculture—rooted in five generations of Baldwin County farming and sharpened by private-sector innovation and public service. A cum laude Auburn graduate, she worked in marketing with Time Warner and Auburn University; served as a City of Orange Beach Commissioner; and founded AgriTech Corp, creator of SoilKit (certified minority woman-owned, 2020). In 2023, the U.S. Small Business Administration named her company Alabama Rural-Owned Small Business of the Year. She pairs on-the-ground farm experience with business, technology, and policy know-how—exactly what the Commissioner’s office demands. Her campaign focuses on protecting farms, the food supply, and property rights while advancing soil health and innovation. Active in her church and in civic organizations, she and her husband, Timothy, live in Orange Beach with their four children. Her family, the Woerner family, has been farming in Baldwin County since 1906.

From Soil to Success Christina's 5-Point Plan

Strengthen the Farm Bill

Put the FARM back in the Farm Bill—healthy Alabama foods on SNAP, stronger farmers, healthier families.

Protect Farmland

Keep Alabama land in U.S. hands. Stop foreign control and theft of U.S. property.

Secure the Next Generation

Food security is national security. Support young farmers and make farming profitable again.

Grow Sweet Grown Alabama

Expand agri-tourism for 29M visitors. Showcase Alabama farms, markets, and festivals.

Streamline Grants

Create a simple grant portal so farmers get funding faster and keep dollars in Alabama.

We are going to put more Alabama poultry and Sweet Grown Alabama products on the plates of our schools and in the homes of our families. We will keep China out of our farms and out of control of our food supply. And we’ll do it by putting the FARM back in the Farm Bill—protecting Alabama’s farmers, families, and future.

WHAT’S HOT FOR

FALL?

After attending market in Hawaii and Nashville recently, what trends stood out to you for Fall 2025?

We’re seeing more solid-color tops and dresses, elevated with chunky accessories—think great belts, bold bangles, scarves, or monochromatic looks paired with standout pieces.

Any colors or textures you’re loving for the Eastern Shore?

We are loving chocolate brown, blues, and greens, with red as a striking accent color.

How do you tailor what you see at market for your customers here?

Since we don’t get much fall weather, I focus on lighter knits, dresses, and tops in seasonal colors like navy, burgundy, chocolate brown, and red—perfect for our climate but still on trend.

What’s flying off the shelves right now?

Sets are huge—from comfy casual scuba fabrics to dressy knits—along with sweaters, denim, and statement jewelry like necklaces and bracelets.

Final style inspo?

This fall is all about ditching loud prints and embracing timeless classics—clean lines, rich textures, and neutral tones. We’re keeping it fun with chunky accessories—statement necklaces, bold acrylic bangles, layered scarves, and leather belts. Finish the look with knee-high boots and a mini bag for a chic, elevated, and effortlessly cool vibe.

A HEALER'S

Balancing the demanding life of a physician in training with motherhood is no small feat, but for this month’s SuperMom, it’s a calling she embraces with resilience, faith, and love for her family.

Currently serving as an Internal Medicine Resident with Infirmary Health at Mobile Infirmary, she pours her heart into caring for others while raising two children alongside her husband of sixteen years. The couple’s journey recently brought them from Alaska to Alabama to be closer to family, a move that made balancing residency, family life, and recovery possible.

Their son enjoys video games and fishing with his pawpaw, while their daughter is a competitive gymnast at Planet Gymnastics who adores animals. Together, they are adjusting to life in the South and building new traditions, including their annual age-numbered birthday shirts and a Christmas Eve ritual of Chinese food and “Die Hard.”

“Being a working mom is hard,” she admits. “I sacrifice a lot of time with my kids to serve others as a physician. But they see how hard I work and how much I care for people. They understand what it means to put in the work.” By involving her children in her studying and showing them dedication firsthand, she has instilled in them a deep appreciation for persistence and compassion.

That perspective deepened after her breast cancer diagnosis on October 1, 2024. “I always wanted to walk with my patients on their journey, not push them forward. But until my diagnosis, I didn’t understand true medical fatigue. Now, when my patients tell me they’re tired of seeing doctors, I get it.”

Her journey through treatment has been honest and emotional. “I haven’t stayed strong the whole time. I’ve cried, cursed, and prayed. But I’ve also leaned on family, friends, and my faith.” She started a blog to share updates during her whirlwind treatment schedule and found unexpected strength in community.

Her husband has been her greatest support. “He educated himself quietly, never expecting me to teach him,” she says. “After my diagnosis, several friends were also diagnosed, and he’s become a support for their husbands.

Watching him help others has been one of the most beautiful parts of this experience.”

To women newly diagnosed with cancer, her advice is simple but powerful: “Cry it out. Don’t rush your decisions. Explore all your options, even non-traditional ones. And don’t be afraid to say no to your doctor. Build your team, and fight your own way.”

Even while navigating residency, motherhood, and recovery, she continues to lead by example for both her patients and her children, proving that strength isn’t about never breaking down, but about rising each time you do.
